PJ Harvey is so good because she sounds like The young marble giants?
PJ Harvey is so good because she sounds like The Young Marble Giants sounding like PJ Harvey sounding like The Young Marble Giants ?
you should now get the first Raincoats album if you don't already have it
Wind in the Rigging is my favourite though I like Ode to Booker G also, in fact I like them all except Credit in the Straight world which I think Hole ruined, back in my teen years
The bass plyer must have also bought new strings on the day of recording 'Collosal Youth'
or Wurlitzer Jukebox.
Why did you know it would be me?
I wish i was a 1980s indie boy :(
we'd be the same age as JD Traynor. I hate the fact however that I was a 1990s indie 'boy' seeing it was distressing at the best of times. Give me 6-5 Spesh any day.
just as the pseudo post punk writing was in its 'heyday', just so I could spout random nonsense about old telephones or something.
Only a little bit on Dry and Rid of Me. I don't think anyone sounds like them really do you - imagining them in a little airtight shell of their own back in 1980 (has such a romantic ring to it that year don't you think - the beginning of post modernism maybe or the realisation of the digital age?)
I watched that episode on BBC4 last night. Spike Milligan, whaddaguy.
That Pop on Trial thing was interesting as well, though it would have been better if the male slag himself, Pete Wylie had shut the fuck up at some point.
(and Dry) to the list of albums he really needs to listen to again*
I bought the reissue when it came out, pored over the sleevenotes, listened to it once and promptly filed it away and never touched it again. Fuck knows why - I really bloody enjoyed it.
YMG was that they only released a very small amount of stuff. It's the musical equivalent of James Dean dying young before he could ruin his legacy.
is amazing. fact.
which is included on the remastered edition of Colossal Youth. I found that for about £4 in a charity shop a few months ago. I was very pleased that day.
becuase they are quiet technically.
but they speak volumes at the same time.
