Black Kids, fanfarlo, Blood red shoes, tokyo police club, late of the pier.
Ten more to come:
exist and have done several gigs and released many singles. Keep up.
that Tips have to be "new"
we aren't really saying these are brand new, just they they should have/will have more attention. And anyway I didn't even pick these five!
fanfarlo, tokyo police club and late of the pier... and black kids are pretty obvious...
When we tip things we aren't saying these acts are brand "new" we're aware that they've been around a while/had releases ect ect we've covered most of it.
That wasn't the point of the piece just that these just deserve more/will get more listens in the next year.
The other two pieces will have a mix of the unheralded and more known.
if I'm not mistaken in every tip we mention that they've released something, so its not like we were presented these are totally unheard of bands.
who said it was?Its only the first part too.
everyone already knows everything. you'd have done better picking 5 random names, people would have stroked their chins and agreed with you guaranteed
they've all had so much press.
dererve a hell of alot more
2) The Wildhearts
3) Send No Flowers
1) Send No Flowers
2 Artefacts for Space Travel
3 Phun Phorce Phive
4 The Unkindness Of Ravens
5 the return of Envelopes!
of the RAWK scene!
when we were 12, we were both massive Terrorvision fans, and his cool older brother who was 15 picked up on this, and tried out a load of rock on us ... Faith No More, Stone Temple Pilots, and "this great new band" Send No Flowers. I didn't even like them then! Though I did like Headswim, and was astounded to see them pop up on Fully Booked with Morag the Cow and Lou's daughter off Neighbours a couple of years later. Mid 90's britrock eh?
all fun bands with pop edges that could easily by loved by many.
listen to wintermute (www.myspace.com/wintermuteband)
one of the best bands in leeds at the moment
V DULL when I saw them at Idioteque.
They should write some riffs of their own instead of stealing all of Q and Not U and the Futureheads'.
I love Dananana and Copy Haho and definitely like Cowtown but regardless, these lists really are fucking pointless.
Just turn on a tourniquet
Ithink it might be time to pop a Spacehog LP on in a mo...
manage to marry Liv Tyler?!
According to Liv anyway...
not the name you want to be shouting at height of ecstasy, is it?
Spacehog were Bush-lite from my recollection, and you water THAt shit down...!
"Zeroes" was one of the best song of the nineties. I think it was the B side of the single of 'In the meantime', but I found myself playing that side of the cassette a lot more.
The All New Adventures of Us
(I've deliberately excluded bands I've known personally prior to hearing their music)
Tim Ten Yen
Friends of the Bride
The Outdoor Types
I'd probably be inclinced to tip Fanfarlo too if I saw them live again. I really liked them the first time.
to not see an 08 hype list without pigging Adele and Foals in...!
the indelicates and tim yen yen aren't new!!!(only joking I don't care...)
He's like Jack Penate and Adele put together. He's signed to virgin aswell. I'm not saying he's necessarily any good but these lists seem to be more about predicting who's going to be on the radio one playlist.
Down the Tiny Steps
Looking for good things from all these bands this year.
Metronomy, Crystal Castles, Sons and Daughters, Duffy, Operator Please,
Bombay Bicycle Club, Untitled 1961, Vessels, Odawas
MGMT are absolutely amazing. i'm so excited by them. bit flaming lips, bit glam, a less gay scissors sisters but so much better and more geetars. can't wait for the pressure point gig (please don't go massive and then upgrade the venue...)
it off you then, please ?!!!
And that was a lot to put in the subject line wasn't it...
to Odawas !
they're all ace...
But I particularly like Odawas...
Bombay Bicycle Club
Plans And Apologies
Lo Fi Culture Scene
Superman Revenge Squad
The Deadly Syndrome x 5
the shitty limits - garage hardcore punk
the cut ups - gruff indie/punk stuff
two bands that really impressed me in 2007 and will only bet better and bigger I reckon.
A Place To Bury Strangers
