The first track is a musical joke to which there is no punchline - What starts up and slows down over and over again for eight minutes?
I didn't have it in me to listen to the rest.
it has a slow build up yeah. But then becomes magdelen bridge like on the Jonquil record but with different music. I like it.
It has about seven slow build ups. Which wouldn't be all that bad, except that I've heard them on all their other songs.
I like it.
It drags after getting to about 4 or 5 minutes but it starts off pretty well.
what a good band they used to be. ive seen most of these new songs about 3 or 4 times live now and they never really impressed me apart from the squiggly guitar tappy bit all the way through If You'd Seen a Battlefield.
the rest of it just sounds like it's going nowhere for about 8 minutes.
those 2 recordings confirm that the new material is nothing on the old stuff.
to be honest. Think I'll withhold proper judgement until I hear the album in its entirety though.
Monitor, Battlefield, Last Night Of The Proms and Archive It Everywhere- all great.
don't think it drags
doesn't sound too different from hurrah...
of 2008 by far. Can't wait.
