still brilliant, yes?
the guitar work on that album was genuinley exciting & whilst I dont hate AWITC it just doesnt do anything to get me excited
:more staccato guitar:
Silent Alarm was class, easily one of my favourite guitar albums of the last few years. Really isnt a bad track on it. But what happened with album 2? soo poor its shocking. they dont even sound like the same band anymore.
Yeah Ive heard a few of the B-Sides - I hear you can get them all collected as a whole album too (another weekend in the city)..they are alot closer to the first album stuff.
Agree about the production values, but no matter what you say you cant disguise the fact that underneath the glossy production of album 2, is a bunch of trully mediocre songs...
wiry production of silent alarm was completely discarded for weekend.. i think thats why i dont ever listen to it. too slick. silent alarm really has such a cohesive feel that i don't reckon they'll ever reclaim now. its like white stripes post de-stijl. why do bands have to discard ace production values just cause theyre massive?
sometimes feel it necessary to 'do a radiohead' in the sense of trying to be different with every album. wheras radiohead had to do it for themselves, other bands feel pressured not to churn out similar records. i think its a bit stupid sometimes cause if it aint broke, why fix it?
is a fucking great album.
Personally I want bands to develop as the songs will never be the same as the first album and you can get easily bored if all they do is turnover the same old stuff.
But there is probably a way you can keep some of the great things about your sound while trying something different.
