Happy new year from Across the Pennines
Ok so, 1 year since starting Across the Pennines and its flown by pretty quicky (time flies when your having a good time/folding record sleeves), I do feel a bit bad for not keeping up with the "a release a month" as promised but I hope you can appreciate that it is just myself releasing/making/distributing the compilations so it is quite time consuming, I will however try to get more than 4 out in 2008 so hopefully by this time next year we'll be into double figures!
Without getting all 'Oscars' i'd like to thank a load of people for helping out this year especially: Pure Groove (who helped out massive amounts with the first Across the Pennines:LIVE show at In The City, stocking the compilations and for offering to support the digital download of all of the ATP comps which will be happening soon!), Piccadilly Records, Jumbo Records, Crash Records, Under-File Records (Japan), VoxPop Music Records (for all stocking the compilations and being understanding about me knowing jack about how things work) All of the bands:
That Fucking Tank, The Deodates, The Ending Of..., The Clerks, LoneLady, Wild Beasts, The Acutes, Nightjars, Sky Larkin, Heads We Dance, Superkings, Screaming Mimi, goFASTER>>, Grammatics, Letters & Colours, Modernaire, Rochelle, To My Boy, Darlings of the Splitscreen, The Longcut, The Sugars, The Wombats, Ape Drape Escape, Former Bullies, Orphan Boy, Black Wire (R.I.P) Fury of the Headteachers, Pink Grease, (We Are) Performance, Dead Disco, Sex Education, Beautiful Balloon, Daggers, Headlines, Old Romantic Killer Band, Catweasels, Elle S'Appelle, Rosie Taylor Project and the Answering Machine.
Matt from Bring on the Dancing Horses which is the one of the best club nights in Manchester for contributing his fab design work to the 6th page of each compilation, ¡Whiskas!, Ali From High Voltage and Paul and Russ from Longest Mile records for answering questions for the interviews section.
Drowned in Sound, Leeds Music Scene.net, Manchestermusic.co.uk, Artrocker, High voltage fanzine, Time for Heroes, Leeds guide for all writing, promoting and bigging up ATP throughout the year.
Of course there would be no point in doing Across the Pennines if people weren't going out and buying the compilations so thanks so everyone thats been great and done that!
So next year is going to be even with a bunch of great acts already lined up including CopyCats, UR Penetrators, Napoleon IIIrd, Arms at Last plus a load of others which are really worth checking out if you havent already!
So yeah speech over (sorry!) Hope everyone has a great new year and can't wait for 2008 should be exciting!
Cheers
