Supergrass last night
played their first gig since they finished putting together the new album, from what they said it was the first time they had played live for 6 months. It was a very small venue, we were in seats two rows from the back which put us about 6 rows from the front. There were three Coombes in their number, with Charly playing synth bass. They played some new stuff (Diamond Hoo-Haa Man, Rough Knuckles, 3-4-5 (Three, Four, Five?)) and some definite crowd-pleasers (Lose It, Caught By The Fuzz, Strange Ones, Richard III). As good a job as Charly did, there was definitely a feeling that they missed Mick on bass, for his backing vocals if nothing else. The whole set definitely did not lack energy, though.
The three of them also look absolutely nothing like brothers.
And Gaz is going bald.
