that is all.

'I'm Not Going To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You'.
Then you'll understand.
do it then go (Y)
and not that mindless nikniknikniknikkyniknik angular disco drivel for a change.
I have heard mixed reviews of their live shows though. Shall see at the Barfly on Friday.
and was very favourably impressed. It's really refreshing to hear a dance band with a bit of live 'oomph' rather than just relying on computerised beats.
They do look very awkward and have the vibe of a 1975 high school band doing disco, but they are worth a watch.
They need to headline their own gigs though, because skinny tight-assed indie kids just can't/won't dance.
I'm worried about how excited I might get watching them in support of the Warlocks tonight, who aren't anything like them. I hope plenty of people bop along as well..
they were really good. I thought the doo-woop girls really complemented the singer really well. you're right about the headline ting.
That was the first time I've seen Of Montreal and I thought they were Ok. My friend said last time they played they had loads of people dressed as lobsters dancing so i was disappointed they weren't there. They should go more Flaming Lips.
it was so refreshing, because i was convinced they would be awful.
last night was fantastic
my tickets say black kids/holy hail or somein. but it says on the barfly website that its warlocks/black kids and some other band.
in the same boat - I think they're playing twice but the tickets say doors 7.30. I don't really want to be hanging around all night to see them!
and if your tix say 7.30 then you will be allowed in and then be allowed to stay for the club after...so in theory half price tickets and you get to see The Warlocks as well!
ill just see there warlocks support slot then, damn flu. ill just give them a ring in a bit for stage times
I have man flu as well hence why I couldn't be bothered to stay til late!!
are playing twice by the way! On at 9ish.
I have the Warlocks gig ticket, so we get to see the first Black Kids show, then, if we wish, get to hang around for Holy Hail/Black Kids and the club night?!
with The Warlocks.
from what i heard it sounds like a slowed down IMA Robot, but could be pretty fun.
havn't been to a good gig in ages.
With Eugene McGuinness and SoKo
details of show are here:
apologies for relevant promo!
..Black Kids on at 9pm supporting Warlocks then on at 11.30pm for the Adventures Close To Home club night alongside Holy Hail..nice
seemed like they jumped the franz/strokes/bloc shark about 5 years too late!
and they were a bit boring.
My expectations were too high for what they delivered.
Nothing new and exciting.
But i don't think they are part of the franz/stroke/bloc party thing.
To me sounded more like the go team! with motown influences, to me they have also a lot of TVOTR.
at like 8, to be told me ticket was for the 11.30/12 or whenever it was show. so went straight home, shall see them at nambucca tomorrow instead.
they were fine, you know.
The Warlocks were far far better. i fucking love the warlocks.
Black Kids are on at 6:30
means i can then go and see supergrass at that xfm shambles at brixton
I really enjoyed them. Not entirely what I was expecting, would of preferred to seen them a their own show as well, not a particular fan of the Warlocks after seeing them live. 2 of the Cribs were there as well. ho-ho.
Their shows will be packed full of people who've never even heard them play. Do people really want to be little sheep?
Go check out the EP they have up on their Myspace and if you enjoy it, go see them, play. Isn't that how it normally works?? Jeez.
It won't make you a failure to enjoy an over-hyped band, as long as it's for the right reasons - the tuneage.
but I think that it's flawed.
So far in the UK Black Kids have mainly been added to other bands' bills. This week they have supported The Courteeners, Of Montreal and The Warlocks. The very vast majority of those audiences would have been at those gigs anyway.
As for hype - if a band is being written about in favourable terms, it attracts audiences. How would people know to go to a bands' MySpace if they hadn't heard of them first?
Things can go quickly the other way if bands don't deliver - the first few shows by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were disastrous and they've never quite been able to shake the stigma of being a bit crap live.
fucking terrible! "oh my god please make it stop" bad.
They clearly have a good vibe but they cant actually sing harmonies together and it ends up sounding terrible
and whoever mentioned some TVotR similarity... seriously, what are you on??
half an hour ago and they are SOLID live. Little bit Television with the guitar lines, little bit Rapture with everything else.
The songs are all there. Despite fucking off Vice and some indie bookers over here, I still predict a good year for them in 2008.
And yes, TVoTR... what were you thinking?
