some new music to listen to!
Help me out people, please..?!
TBH, i just pick and choose my music according to my mood. I've always considered my musical tastes very varied...until, that is, DiS....
OK - so, on my playlist right now:
Aphex twin; chicane; counting crows; the cranberries; Dixie Chicks! (ok, guilty pleasure!); Fleetwood mac; Imogen heap; Moby; The Raconteurs...
[ok, it's at this point you can rip me for my musical tastes....just suggest me some good shit for easy listenin!]
to say please.
Gossamer albatross jag, there? Just checked your myspace. Pretty good.
way too many "ok's" in that thread, I'm thinking.
the right SPAN??
They are ok. Not what I would call easy listening, though. Will archive em, tho! Thanks.
...but they never released them as singles. But I do enjoy my SPAN.
you're ever in a chilled out sort of mood, go for some Fragile State. Never have i been so relaxed whilst listening to them. Not sure if they've got a myspace though. Haven't really bothered to check either though, granted.
I like. Ta very muchly!!
are you familiar with the musical stylings of Jeff Buckley?
Why thank you, Alex. I certainly am now! Certainly stupendous, not at all obvious!
Jeff Buckley? I reckon he's worth a few listens. Good chilled beat complexity on a couple of tracks. Slight 'asian' feel to the Electric chair one....
I like. Thanks!
like jeff buckley, but not dead, and with good old funny noises thrown in.
worth a few listens? Mate that is a musical legend right there.
Buy Grace by Jeff Buckley and I can guarantee you'l still be listening to it in 10,20 and probably 30 years time.
yes. that is all. Oh and Patrick Watson!! Are you familiar? Shockingly similar vocal to jeff, but quite different music.
different music. and also very unique vocals.
is the only other thing i really recommend right now, for both artists (jeff and PW) you need a cohesive listen to the albums
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Patrick Watson - Close to paradise
i always find myspace listening detracts from the overall experience etc. glad to help!
thanks. I just go there to start with, there or youtube, simply because it's easy. Just for a taster, to get a general feel for it. I guess I should try not to so much - I'm sure it doesn't do all artists/bands the justice they deserve!?
its not fair on the artists!! The album is how the songs are meant to be heard, in the right context. Its all my opinion, just completely depends on how and why you like/listen to music. My personal way of listening to music is to downlaod the album off a site of some description, then if i like it after a few run throughs i buy it.
But yeah, all personal preference, wasn't trying to be a music snob or anything, its just that alot of artists out there can be so wrongly judged by listening to songs on myspace.
I know this all too well!! Don't you know my CRAINE history??
Well, I totally agree with you. Nothing beats hearing the songs in their entireity - as they were meant to be heard.
do you realise, that just until a second ago, I was actually reading your username as 'Alex-in-Cinderland'!!
Even after asking about it in another thread!!
so maybe quite a few more than just a few listens!!
more than that!! Its one of the few albums i still listen to that i used to listen to when i was like 13. Along with at the drive-in. mmm.
I hope you like.
very good. A nice mix of tracks on myspace. Thanks!!
well, I don't really know what to say on them. Apart from, no - not a fan.
They were rather loosely tagged 'The female Beastie Boys' in the 90s, but, that had more to do with the fact that they all grew up together in New York and were signed to the Beasties ill fated Grand Royal label than any real sonic similarities.
All girl mellow indierock action.
