The future or just a Les Paul for lazy fuckers?
It all looks very impressive, lots of money though.
it looks like it only tunes to set tunings. If you could input your own, then it would be great.
Traditionally, one of the things that has discouraged many players from exploring alternate tunings thoroughly is the sheer work of changing the guitar from one tuning to another and back again. Professional performers who regularly use more than one tuning generally keep a number of different guitars on stage in different tunings, at arm's reach and ready to go, just to ease the work of all that tuner twisting. But all that is a thing of the past, and here's where one of the great beauties about the Robot Guitar comes into play: just rotate the Master Control Knob to the desired preset, strum, and you're ready to play in Open E, Dropped D, DADGAD, Open G, Hendrix Tuning, Double Dropped D, or any of your own custom tunings that you program into the system. When the song is through, twist the MCK knob, strum again, and you're back in standard tuning for the next number. Explore, play, create … it couldn't be simpler, and you'll be amazed at how your musical horizons expand
I don't work for anyone at present, hence I'm pissing away the daylight hours on DiS.
I was just intrigued by the general gadgetry of it.
...not an off the cuff homage to this guitar!
I'm quite relieved to be honest.
how will it not just snap your strings a lot? i find a coil g string will generally snap after a few too many retunes. will it be based on pitch or tension? i can foresee problems with both of these options..tension will vary greatly depending on string guages and ages...and pitch will be a nightmare on a noisy stage. unless it just "knows"..maybe its made with the ashes of nick drake incorporated into its lacquer.
...This is bound to be flawed, down tuning needs heavier strings, different intonation, action etc...basically, a whole new set up. There's no way it can work...it look DISGUSTING too.
i remember seeing something similar on some kids program years ago, and they tested it against a guitarist doing it by ear, but the guitarist won, which made it all look a bit stupid.
it's seems like an unnecessary addition to a guitar of that price really, anyone spending thousands of pounds on a guitar must surely know how to tune the thing properly.
but if this did work, and you could indeed switch tunings in half a second, it would be amazing AND open up new methods of guitar playing. its like bill and ted or something, soon we'll be able to switch tunings between EVERY NOTE. OMG imagine what Ywngwie will do!
if they did a telecaster or rickenbacker version or something. But you just plain look like a twat wearing one of those things.
It would be pretty amazing being able to switch tunings mid song. I wonder if it makes that dentist's drill sound like on the demo!?
just makes me think of a ballista.
