mixing tips (production, not dj-ing)
i'm currently mixing pretty much the first thing i've done all on my lonesome (and its semi-complex), and am wondering if anyone has any advice on mixing stuff down. do you just listen to it a million times, tinkering and turning stuff up and down in a million places (i'm using a computer, so have good control over these things), or do you strip it down to one element and judge the volumes of everything else in relation to that?
i did the latter yesterday and ended up with this horrid bass-lead abortion that i literally cannot believe i ever thought sounded good
tips n anecdotes pls
