The Decemberists: Bridges and Balloons.
Now you go.
...jaw-droppingly bad. and i love braid.
covering The Doors' 'The End'. Terrible, but so very very funny!
Death Cab's version
For my part, I heard At The Drive-In's cover of "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" the other day. I was... underwhelmed.
I must hear that
why does he even try to sing that low? Why did they even bother doing it, considering its exactly the same but with louder guitar?
It's the pointless attempted faithfulness that annoyed me most, I think.
as is Deftones' version of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.
What the fuck?
Within you Without you - how to ruin the best song on Sgt Peppers: give it to Liam Gallagher.
Tomorrow Never Knows - Noel's attempt to imitate Lennon crashing and burning
I Am The Walrus - making a very very 60s song sound very very 90s = dirge
Such an anaemic rendition, anyone hear it?
That link still works, for any masochists on the board.
and I rate dylan 10/10
to be fair on them it is a terrible song
it is just too smiths to ever be covered
Bright Eyes versions of 'mushaboom' and 'the biggest lie'. Awful.
the version of 'the biggest lie' from the 'to elliott from portland' tribute (by dolorean) is wonderous. the decemberists do a fine 'clementine' too. But there's a fucking hideous hip hop rendition of 'happiness' on there.
I don't mind The Biggest Lie version.
I don't think I've ever listened to mushaboom
cos it's a live cover...
but it's kind of grown on me.
Bryan Ferry's 'A Hard Rain's A-gonna Fall'.
so insensitive to the originals subject matter.
I like this as well. I'm not doing very well in this thread.
Dancing in the Street.
Take your pick!
Are they reputable?
I'm a McCartney man.
*and* their cover of Human Behaviour. Neither as much as the originals, but, y'know, good for a change. How many cool points do I lose? :-s
Worst ever: Flaming Lips doing Can't Get You Out Of My Head has to be up there, non?
electioneering, fookin horrible
Death cab for cutie - Love will tear us apart
the reputable bit
and though not reputable, this one is seared forever into my memory: A Perfect Circle- Imagine.
I also don't like Iron & Wine- Such Great Heights, though this is far from the worst cover ever.
attempt at "Headmaster Ritual" is a great example of how Morrissey is actually even better than you thought he was.
