"yes", by at least 3 miles
You're actually dead to me now.
Everything Must Go.
marks and spastic
I'll go for 'Faster'. Gonzo brilliance.
on THB, maybe 2nd overall too
though i always thought the quote at the beginning sounded like Tony Blair's voice.
but everyone knows that strings = tory music
Even things like Motorcycle Emptiness and Design for Life I struggle to listen to now (possibly 'cos of over-playing...) and I struggle to think of songs of theirs I do still like.
I heard the Holy Bible recently and although it's interesting in that it's the flawed rantings of a guy in a really difficult psychological place I don't think it's actually particularly good anymore.
My favourite song is possibly Little Baby Nothing or Tsunami. Maybe This is Yesterday or Motorcycle Emptiness. But probably Little Baby Nothing.
It's a shame, but true. How I loved them so much in the 1st place is beyond me now. It all sounds really dated and dull. I suppose they spoke to me as a depressed teenager, I thought, wow these guys think the world's as shit as I do and have some of the same extreme views.
I suppose it's called growing up, it's a shame, I wish I could still love them.
Anyway back in the day my favourite songs were: Removables, 4st 7lbs and Judge Y'rself.
I couldn't possibly of chosen one.
I forgot Sleepflower, I absolutely adored that song.
and I have never played it since. As the poet TS Eliot said 'human kind cannot stand too much reality'. One day I will probably get back to it, but it scared me.
....From Despair to Where....
But also Motown Junk, Little baby Nothing, Life Becoming A Landslide, Faster, Slash n Burn, Scream to a Sigh, Stay Beautiful, Small Black Flowers, Motor cycle emptiness...
could go on and on...
Slash 'N' Burn
Intense Humming Of Evil, so very very dark..
honorable mentions also for:
little baby nothing
suicide is painless
we are all bourgois now
but also 'PCP', 'ifwhiteamerica....' and 'Masses Against the Classes'
it totally wins as a set closer as well. when i saw them in 2005 they played it 2nd, which in a career characterised by really stupid decisions has to be somewhere near the top.
of walking abortion purely for:
"who's responsible you fucking are" over that masty riff.
no surface all feeling
or The Girl Who Wanted To Be God
but worst by a mile = S.Y.M.M.
i guess. Also, Kevin Carter, Little Baby Nothing, Interiors, Yes.
And even as a big Manics fan, I'll agree that S.Y.M.M. is an absolute travesty...
or 'of walking abortion' or 'so dead'
i fucking love 'so dead'
If White America....
1. This Is Yesterday
2. La Tristesse Durea
3. We Are All Bourgeouis Now
4. Motown Junk
5. Prologue To History
9. Nobody Loved You (I know, I know)
10. Condemned To Rock N Roll
I fucking love the Manics.
Honourable mention for PCP because I was walking down Oxford Street the other day and there was this gigantic electronic sign saying to warn pick pockets they were being watched and all I could think was "10ft sign in Oxford St, be pure, be vigillant, behave"
is my second favourite, unfortunately I guess that the lyrics of my top favourite will have to be rewritten out of respect for those who so tragically died in the Summartra Tsunami of December 26, 2004.
don't pretend it is anything else, it isn't, you just think it is.
sculpture of man, faster, motown junk, small black flowers, stay beautiful and UK Channel Boredom
But I like the way The Holy Bible makes me feel like I've just witnessed a car crash.
...black flowers that grow in the sky.
closely followed by faster.
Little Baby Nothing
or Kevin Carter.
