on his last tour
He is a super fan.
liked The Runaway Found...
never got into Nux Vomica though.
Saw 'em supporting Ed H in Brighton.
Always sad to see a good band on its way down.
In terms of success - the band were never big over here, even when the first record came out, as far as I can remember their most "mainstream" moment was when I saw the Lavinia video on The Amp (worst channel ever?). Now they're playing to hundreds in the US (recently did the first ever tour), and still massively popular in Benelux and Australia. They're still signed to Rough Trade, and have a new US contract (and Nux was pretty well acclaimed, critically) - I know they're playing small support slots here, but they were never really big.
In terms of quality, I personally prefer The Runaway Found, but I can see Nux Vomica as a much more mature record in terms of songwriting (lyrically, it's such an incredibly dark & profound record) - I really think Finn's come into his own. The band now feels like a proper band, too - and they're image is fantastic too. Before, it just felt like Finn Andrews plus session musicians.
Singer sacked band - got friends from New Zealand to join, released a record in 2006 (one of the best albums of that year).
Got a relative amount of press for it this year with the US release, have been touring for about non-stop for 2 years - finally coming to an end this month in NZ. Album no 3 to be released in the first half of next year.
I'm so happy this thread was made.
advertises on here for band members quite alot.
