Should i keep these CDs?

moderaterock [Edit] [Delete] 50 replies 19:26, 8 November '07

My uncle just moved to Thailand and left behind loads of CDs. I now own the entire Public Enemy and Radiohead back catalogues, woo hoo! BUT, be it to my credit or shame, i don't know if anything else here is worth keeping. So... should i?

BLUE OYSTER CULT- Agents Of Fortune
CAN- Future Days
DAVID BOWIE- Hunky Dory
DR. JOHN- Gris-Gris
ELVIS COSTELLO- This Years Model
JEFFERSON AIRPLANE- Best Of...
LOVE- Forever Changes
MILES DAVIS- Best Of...
NICK DRAKE-Five Leaves Left
R.E.M- Document
THE CURE- Bloodflowers
TOM WAITS- Swordfishtrombones
VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR- First Generation
WEATHER REPORT- Heavy Weather

And what looks like everything Talking Heads have ever done.

        tom_from_sparks | 8 Nov '07, 20:18 | X
        • Mostly good...

...but that weather report album's like the theme tune to Cagney and Lacey over and over and over.

          darran @tom_from_sparks | 8 Nov '07, 21:28 | X
          • Really?

            That actually sounds quite appealing.

I would say keep them all!

          bigmark35 @John_Brainlove | 8 Nov '07, 23:34 | X
          • KEEP

Love - Forever Changes whatever you do. It's absolutely seminal.

            atom_jack @bigmark35 | 8 Nov '07, 23:37 | X
        • Keep them all

Well actually any Miles with the words 'best' and 'of' does worry me slightly (insofar as it will contain none of his best stuff except some of 'kind of blue' which you should own in its entirety anyway), but I might be wrong.

Why has your uncle moved to Thailand. Internet bride?

          remittanceman @John_Brainlove | 8 Nov '07, 23:35 | X
          • ^ This

Keep them all. It's not like any of them are so shit it's worth getting rid of them. There's a modicum of diversity in the selection, too.

            Raanraals @remittanceman | 8 Nov '07, 23:46 | X
      • bf

deffo! You can do all kinds of groovy shit with cds. Put your beer on them. Put your cup of tea on them, er...comb your hair in them. They are so fucken cool!

*keep Love, Nick Drake, Dr John, Can, Tom Waits and D Bowie, probably Jefferson Airplane, unless it has Jefferson Starship tracks on it

        grockle | 9 Nov '07, 00:07 | X
        • ^ ^ ^ Listen to him ^ ^ ^

          Always listen to Grockle.

          stanstubbs @grockle | 9 Nov '07, 12:03 | X
      • it sounds like

your uncle's just left you a pile of utterly amazing music.

        keep it all.

        restlessboy | 9 Nov '07, 09:22 | X
        • Definitely keep

Van Der Graaf Generator. Easily one of the most intense bands I've ever heard.

          theetersecrimp @restlessboy | 9 Nov '07, 09:33 | X
          • Just

            Nick Drake

            gazbid @theetersecrimp | 9 Nov '07, 12:05 | X
      • The only one you need to jettison is

the Dr John one. Keep the rest

        Lucien | 9 Nov '07, 12:05 | X
        • eedjit

          douchebag @Lucien | 9 Nov '07, 12:06 | X
      • keep:

nick drake, tom waits (genius) and van der graaf generator.

        Dicko | 9 Nov '07, 12:05 | X
        • Would be silly to throw any away, but:

definitely keep REM, David bowie, Love and certainly all the talking heads stuff, esp more songs about..
