Ok, so most of you peeps are heading to Release The Bats. Understandable i guess...
...BUT...standing tickets are all sold out & who wants to sit through 8 hours of live music on a Friday night without being able to dance?!? Sooooo the ONLY place to be is Bardens, oh yes:
This Ain't Vegas
This Aint Vegas are a 4 piece from Sunderland signed to the excellent Jealous Records, home of That Fucking Tank and Dananananaakroyd. They have released 2 albums to great acclaim with their last offering, 2005?s The Night Don Benito Saved My Life, charting at number 30 in Drowned in Sound?s top albums of the last 6 years.
Formed a little over a year ago in Nottingham, LOVVERS is a group of passionate individuals - loud and honest they portray a form of musical reality often associated with the early 80's or mid 90's US acts, many of which were found on the labels SST and SUB POP. Their sound is a chaotic mixture of fractured guitar and mangled vocals, that some how regroups to form a very clear structure. They have recently released their second 7" on Jonson Family Records.
"Lovvers are a force to be absolutely reckoned with. Impressively boisterous stuff" Drowned in Sound
Favours For Sailors
In a time of streamlined hair, perfect posturing and asymmetric melodies, Favours For Sailors provide a much-needed musical pick-me-up. Mixing the fractured pop of Pavement, the frenetic power of Gang Of Four, the guitar heroics of Television, and the frustration of three misplaced mid-20s wage slaves, their tunes spill over with wistful lust and exuberant alcoholism. www.myspace.com/favours4sailors
