where should one start with their vast back catalogue?
And I really recomment buying it. Really lovely stuff, and is also probably great to take mushrooms to!
and have yet to be disappointed by any of them.
Love Electrique is quite a good place to start. It's recent (2006), but has a good mix of their various styles, and a version of their signature track Pink Lady Lemonade.
Also worth checking out are the double album Absolutely Freak Out (Zap Your Mind), and La Novia, the title track of which is a 45min psychedelic take on a Southern French folk song.
Electric Heavyland is also good, but probably not the best place to start unless you really like noise.
so just picking one at random should be fine (although i prefer stuff like 'univers zen ...' from when cotton casino was still involved). can't wait to see them again in a few weeks!
and La Novia, both are great. The only other album of theirs i own, which is possibly my favourite (largely because it's lovely to look at) is 41st Century Splendid Man. Well worth checking out if you can find a copy.
Fliers in Rough Trade told me
Is a good one. Or you could save money and listen to the often really good live stuff on archive.org.
is pants. The only good bit is "Pink Lady Lemonade" and they couldn't mess that one up if they tried.
i love Myth Of The Love Electrique like a lot of folks, plus Absolutely Freak Out, La Novia and the self titled debut
but they're all good in the main. each album has at least one song (and a usually very long one) worth buying for alone
looking forward to seeing em this week too
saw AMT on Weds at a packed Old Blue Last gig for Last FM. fucking superb
especially when Damo Suzuki (Can) joined em for a lenghty encore
how and sweaty, psych madness
