DROWNEDINSOUND PRESENTS: DAMO SUZUKI & GUESTS
A special night of improvised excellence with ex CAN frontman Damo Suzuki. Playing two sets (+two support acts), Damo will join some of the midlands most exciting live performers for what promises to be an unmissable gig.
DAMO SUZUKI w/ LORDS
Nottingham's own LORDS create a maelstrom of razor sharp blues riffs, punishing drums and dirty blues vibes. Debut album "This ain't a hate thing...", released on Gringo Records, was a potent mix of jazz, math, punk, funk, bluegrass and plain old ROCK. Expect the same element here; LORDS music is undeniably free flowing, with ideas evolving in mere milliseconds sticking in your mind for aeons.
DAMO SUZUKI w/ members of GLISSANDO, HER NAME IS CALLA & GOSSAMER ALBATROSS (THE BURNING HAMMER BAND)
Who knows what this will bring. Members of each band have toured with each other, some are friends, some are acquaintances. None are enemies. For the first and only time members of the three bands will come together. Recorded offerings have brought drones, love songs, classical meanderings, molten noise, hushed lullabies and strained shouting. This set may bring all or none.
Probably the greatest solo performer in the country, Napoleon IIIrd's euphoric live show brings a cheshire-cat grin to anyone lucky enough to experience it. Think sixties pop songwriting given a modern shine, composed of tape loops, guitars acoustic and electric and various toys. Every song he writes is a 'single of the year'. As Sum 41 said; All Killer, No Filler.
Very few bands split opinion like Yo chomsky! Their shambolic stageshow makes The Fall seem polished and their unique mix of afrobeat, new-rave (shudder) and punk is disorientating if not slightly frightening, yet there is an undeniable charm to their innocent ambition. Love or loathe them you will remember them.
