it was better than les savy fav
in fact, it was better than anything. ever.
don't you, tristan.
all other music ever was redudant, afterwards.
I'm listening to the Maccabees right now. Of my volition.
your feeling was probably right.
Such ecstatic, joyous & primal music
Is it still the same piece that they've been doing for the past few years (i.e. the one on Super Roots 9)?
It's ace 'n all, but it'd be really lovely to hear them do something new.
it was sort of a continuous piece, but i think i caught snatches of album tracks i recognised. there were definitely bits that sounded like stuff off of Super Ae.
They had three drummers, a man behind lots of dials and eYe hit a choice of seven guitar necks on stands with big sticks and also played these lightbulbs which made feedback when he waved them round
with myself that I didn't get a ticket to see them on Friday. And they're playing bloody down the road from me. Waaah.
we all get anfry sometimes
and I am really really excited.
the greatest gig of my entire existance.so fucking good
so that i can just wake up, head on down the m6 and go to see 'em at the barfly. i haven't been looking forward to a single gig this much for a long, long time ....
turned up to find my photopass blagged by some usurper. Ended up with really blocked view and all I could see was one drummer. She was nice to look at though. Not best gig ever but enjoyable :)
You're completely right, its was waaaaaaay better than les savy fav. Such an amazing gig.
That foot keyboard that she was playing whilst drumming was really good too.
Was he any good? He's playing up here on his own tomorrow.
Personally I really enjoyed him, but horses for courses etc. His voice being really knackered helped, added to the rawness.
I'd go see him again for sure.
Michael Gira was alright but his sent went on waaaaay to long. It took all the momentum out of the gig. Seriously, it was a really virtuouistic display in the field of welcome-outstaying.
Did have a great line however:
Gira: Are you all in college? I've always wanted to be in a college rock band, you know like REM or something.
Audience member: Then what was Swans about?
Disagree with Tristan, though, Les Savy Fav were better. Boredoms were awesome but it was just SUCH an inappropriate venue for a sound that sums up all the violence and beauty of nature.
