when are they gonna get on the gravy train and reform......
however i have been happy with everything Malkmus has produced since. He will proberbly reform when everyone stops asking. I tell you what would have been cool was the supergroup that was going to be made with Malkmus, Yorke, Beck and Elliott Smith. Or maybe too many cooks would have spoilt the broth.
last month's Spin with the thurston moore interview in, claiming they'd have made a hell of a lot more money by breaking up in the mid nineties and reforming now than staying together. It's awful to have to read about someone like Thurston who you assume is sort of well off saying "well you do the festivals in the summer to make a bit more money, we don't like playing to drunken crowds really", the way it comes across is that they need that income as a part of their per annum, ditto with kristen hersh who seems to live in borderline poverty...!
Point is, as Malkmus and Kanberg are still trying to eke out a living as 'artists' and are probably very tempted to take the money and run. The others, who knows? I heard Bob Nastovic has made a fortune breeding racehorses...!
problem might be down to still living in new york, where basically anyone non-really-rich are being priced out of any half decent housing.
massachusetts or hoboken now though
to be fair they're the only band who've split up and at the time actually said 'we'll probably reform at some point and do a greatest hits tour'.
I give it two years max.
I recon they'll do a tour for that
the redux of that would be even more tedious
Music is derivative of Pavement
but I hope my band is big enough to support them when they do! I'd guess 10 years on from the split would be a decent shout, so Winter 2009.
has said they may reform for the ten year anniversary in 2009, although I always assumed Kannberg won't talk to him. One of them, I forget which, has been Steven's tour manager.
for next year, I reckon. Tell the others.
but I lost Mark Ibold's number when I dropped my phone in the toilet. Anyone else got it?
Has a new album out next year so I suspect he will get that out the way then reform end of 2008.
when FTT was on its way too.
