I couldn't even remember their name, what more proof is required?
End of thread!
i think we all know who wins
in the East Oxford Community Theatre tent and then acted all surprised when 99% of the festival turned up to watch whilst Freddy Zimbabwe and the Flying Lesbian Ram Jam performed to 14 people on the Truck Stage.
was surprisingly good at Truck, considering how awful the second Unbelievable Truth album was. Nice to hear some (well, one at least) of their early songs played live though.
*Goes off to listen to Pablo Honey*
i'd be fucking pissed off if i was thom yorkes brother.
Thom's done music, pretty much proven himself.
He's also established a pretty definite graphic design/art style along with stanley donwood, so art is out of the question.
If you wanted to achieve anything artistic as andy yorke you'd have to be an actor or something.
were ace !
But nothing special.
I think rather they were destined to get more opportunities than most due to the Radiohead connection.
I wonder if Andy Yorke ever penned a song parallel to 'My Iron Lung' about how the only reason his band got where it was was due to Radiohead but it was also the thing that stopped them being evaluated with an open mind?
when you say there weren't very good ( that's a personnal opinion, so it can't be right or wrong ).
But I think you're wrong to say that's why they were doomed to obscurity ( or Travis would have been forgotten 10 years ago ) !
I think the 2 main reasons of their failure was :
1. people talked only about the fact he was the brother of...
2. Virgin was unable to cash on the hype and make them big.
The way they played live, didn't help either ( not that they were bad, just that it wasn't for people with short attention span which seem to make most of the crowd in gigs now... )
But that kind of association could have turned out well, as it gave people a reason to listen to them. Unfortunately, when they did, they didn't like the boring music, and so the band didn't do very well... if they had been great, the story would be different.
But they were much better than most bands from this 'genre' that made it big in the last 10 years...
ie. be better than his brother.
Charlie From Busted Brother's band is much better than Charlie From Busted's other band.
Charlie from Busted brother's band is better than Charlie from Busted other brother's band, who are better than Charlie from Busted's current band. Who are better than Busted.
Unbelievable Truth were awesome, although as someone else said, they maybe lacked some presence. They're still pretty much playing together too, in the guise of Andy Yorke's support band. Playing the Port Mahon in Oxford on Nov 4th I think.
and it'll be good.
