NME rant (yes, I know...)
I just keep wondering how much worse it can get. The website now has "Tabloid Hell" and "Daily Ligger" for all your gossip needs, and whenever there's a big story, it jumps in with as much misinformed nonsense as possible. Latest example: the Radiohead album. There was a news item saying "hear it now", which turned out just to be links to YouTube performances of some of the tracks that'll be on there. Then there was "Exclusive interview: band talks about new album"... which turned out to be an interview from March 2006 where they were talking about plans for the next record.
I know this has been gone over again and again (and again) but... how much worse can it get? I miss having something to buy every week, having finally stopped a year or so ago. For all its faults, it did also used to have reasons to be worth buying.
Can I ask anyone who's half my age (I'm 34)... does NME 'work' for you now? Or do you feel patronised too? Am I just too old for it?
