Anyone got this yet?
I'm on my first listen, and it sounds pretty good. It reminds me of The River.
is the only glory-years Springsteen album I don't have, and I've always been a little put off by its sheer size. Is it worth checking out?
Having spunked a substantial amount of my student loan on that Radiohead box set, I'm going to wait until Christmas (or a sale) to get 'Magic', but I'm looking forward to it. Although I was disappointed by Radio Nowhere, Long Way Home (I think that was the title) really knocked me over.
but excellent in places
I think once I get back to London at Christmas, I'll plug the gaps in my Springsteen collection. I still don't have Greetings From Asbury Park...
...E Street Shuffle 3/5
Born To Run 5/5
The River 4/5
Born in the USA 4/5
<Solo Period Deleted>
Ghost of Tom Joad 4/5
The Rising 3/5
Devils and Dust 3/5
honourable mention to the triple live album 4/5
there, me, arrogant? no. Yes.
Well, fuck it, I'm out on my travels for a bit now, so I may get it if anywhere has it for cheap-ish.
Is Tunnel Of Love really best avoided then? I've heard good things about it from some quarters...
...isn't too bad - 'Brilliant Disguise' as a great tune. But Human Touch and Lucky town really are. Both released on the same day ala Use Your Illusion.
But not good.
Lucky Town (the song) is a belter though.
otherwise the above marks are pretty spot on
with the obvious exception that BITUSA is 5/5 and a pretty much flawless album
Not sure about that. 'Glory Days'? mmm.
however, I was obsessed with the lyric:
"Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul"
from 'I'm On Fire' for a long, long time.
Bobby Jean is the best song he ever wrote...apart from Thunder Road, obviously, but that's a given.
more like GARETHWRONG.
the first two albums are 4.5 and 5.0 respectively. so much more joy in the playing on them! and they dont sound so damn white!
but Nebraska came after the river, not before. Pedantry and the Boss go hand in hand for me.
His third 3.5/5 album in a row
for consistency anyway.
After hearing it three times I've decided it deserves a 4/5. Couple of duds but generally very good.
maybe a 7.5 - so 3.75
