I have no hope in hell of being at an internet connected computer at 9am on Saturday...BALLS.
ticketmaster only so far, nothing on See. Meh!
S'a bit steep (35 nicker plus booking) but they tend to play for a long time.
but wembley, £40 odd and snuggleo'clock are pretty much set against me going
Or been to Wembley.
I love The Cure though.
I hear Wembley's cack, you see
But largely because arena shows have no atmosphere, and to be honest you aren't likely to see The Cure anywhere but a venue...
What a silly thing for me to type
somewhere far smaller just a few years back... think sophie squirrel went. i forget the venue tho
Well ignore me and hold out for a smaller venue then, cos Wembley is indeed shite
They did RAH last year which was great, played from 8pm to 11.15, no support. And yes Wembley is horrible, but at least if you can get standing tickets in the arena floor you can move around, it's a bit more pleasant. My wife loves them so I have to go...
wow. I went to the Royal Albert Hall, it was mega good.
to raise money. went for £2000 :|
but i'm not sure... would they actually be any good nowadays?
Robert Smith has got very fat of late.
you lose all musical ability. Possibly due to chubby fingers on guitar strings and obese vocal chords.
when they stick to the old stuff (which they do most of the time!). i've not seen them but recent bootlegs i've heard have been really good.
i'm now sorely tempted. and if they play for over three hours again, as they did at RAH, that's a LOT of Cure for your money...
oh god i am tempted too now... look at the setlist of their last show... a bit mindblowing:
open, fascination street, alt.end, the blood, the walk, the end of the world, lovesong, pictures of you, lullaby, hot hot hot !!!, push, in between days, friday i'm in love, just like heaven, if only tonight we could sleep, the kiss, shake dog shake, never enough, from the edge of the deep green sea, wrong number, one hundred years, shiver and shake, end,
E1: plainsong, disintegration, faith,
E2: three imaginary boys, fire in cairo, boys don't cry, jumping someone else'e train, grinding halt, 10.15 saturday night, killing an arab,
E3: a forest
at that list.
lovesong > pictures of you > lullaby
at that list either.
i'm going to look at my finances tonight i think
That setlist just sealed it.
Pornography, disintegration and Bloodflowers in full, one after the other with a 5min break in between each. It was kind of boring, but had its moments.
Robert might try to convince himself, but it's not. Bloodflowers is shit. And disintegration is far from being as good as any of the three albums of the REAL Cure trilogy.
I've seen them at the Zenith ( 6000 capacity ) when they toured Bloodlowers. They were largely boring. This time they're playing Bercy ( 15 000 ), in march. I won't be there !
a sixteen seconds/faith/pornography trilogy would have been much better
Sadly they tend to destroy the songs from this albums when they're playing them now.
They were no songs for arenas !
will be supporting at Wembley...
gig had a 20 minute break in between albums, as i was there too ! The show in Hamburg a few days before the Trilogy shows had the ultimate set list and probably the best time i ever saw them :
Want, Shake Dog Shake, Open, High, A Night Like This, The Baby Screams, From the Edge of the Deep Green
Sea, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, The Kiss, Torture, The Drowning Man, Charlotte Sometimes, Push,
Inbetween Days, Primary, Just Like Heaven, Play For Today, Shiver & Shake, End
1st encore: Three Imaginary Boys, M, Grinding Halt, Boys Don't Cry
2nd encore: Close To Me, Let's Go To Bed, Friday I'm In Love, Why Can't I Be You? (not extended)
3rd encore: A Forest/Forever
4th encore: 100 years, Fascination Street, Bloodflowers
shit gig !
at Wembley the last time they played there, half of the audience were out the door
just us or them made it worth the £50 easily (it was for the Children's Cancer Trust). I'm not sure if I want to taint that memory by going to a potentially mediocre gig at the Arena though... They DO still have it live though. Least favourite moment of the evening: Smithy dribbling. Really, for fuck's sake, you're not a rabid dog!
I can't wait for this, one of the few bands I'm willing to travel all the way down south for. If 65dos were to support on this show as well then i would be convinced once and for all that the world is a beautiful place. I really wish it was more intimate, although i've heard Wembley is alright given it's size. Not true?
...and £80 for a standing one!
Guess which one muggins spent money he doesn't have on???
Better be worth it.........
