The best tracks on both of the Arctic Monkeys albums are the last tracks.
it does mean that it's almost over.
But A View From The Afternoon is the best track on the first IMO.
two of the best but not THE best. My favourite on the first album is View From The Afternoon and I think Do Me A Favour is possibly as good as 505.
505 is good...just not as good, sorry.
^get ready for the "so is the backlash to the backlash to backlash to the backlash??" horrible replies... no, they're just awful.
I think they're fucking naff.
Well, a friend of mine gave me the MP3s of "Favourite Worst Nightmare" anyway.
Annoyingly their in alphabetical order and I don't know the proper tracklisting so I can't comment on Crablin's theory. Plus I've not heard it yet.
I'm looking forward to listening to them anyway. At first I did get a bit blinded by the hype and couldn't really see what the fuss was about but I'm keen to listen properly and see what I think.
I've never really got the hatred of them in any case. At worst they're lyrically decent and unusually raw for a successful guitar band. I can't see any reason to actively dislike them even if someone isn't that keen on them. Except obviously that
a) they're ridiculously huge - possibly disproportionately so to how good they are but of coruse I might review my opinion on this after listening to FWN.
b) too many bands are trying to sound like them or getting signed for being like 'em, some of whom are more than a little shit.
but the rest of it is palpably filler. The second doesn't really hit the same peaks but is much more sustained. I'd rate Do Me A Favour and If You Were There Beware over 505
Favourite Worst Nightmare.
The best track on the first album was 'Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secured', because the bassline is the music that plays in old cartoons when characters are tip-toeing around in the dark.
I can't comment on the quality of the last track of the second album, for the following reasons:
1) I heard it on Jools Holland once and forgot it 5 minutes later. That's how good it is.
2) I didn't buy the second album because all the other tracks on the first album were a pretty high grade of horseshit.
Jared was a guy working for Domino who managed to talk about them on every website in the world and make them big.
It's the future of the music industry apparently.
I can talk about Hawk & The Awks on every website! I manage it on here all the time...
But you have to pretend you're just a fan first !
I really am that narcissistic!
im pretty sure Jared doesnt work for Domino, if were talking about the same jared that posted about them on here too.
always was their best song, even back in the 4th on the bill at Long Eaton Sportsman days.
fuck jared works for domino. i would be 100% surprised if this was true.
I didn't think that thread was serious...
BUT I wouldn't be surprised if record labels started to use guys to plug their bands on website in an intelligent way ( meaning gaining the posters trust first ) instead of the stupid street-teamers...
You mean anyone of us is a suspect?
Playing today in London !
