They can turn a walk to the Spar into the most epic adventure anyone has ever undertaken, they really can.
which was rather upsetting :(
I've never seen them live and fondly imagined that it'd be the most magical experience ever.
I take it I'm wrong then?
i hope i'm wrong, and it was a case of wrong time wrong place, but they were incredibly dull save for a couple of songs when I saw them, my girlfriend even managed to fall asleep standing up (we were quite tired to be fair, but even still!)
when I saw them in Leeds a few months ago, not as amazing as I had hoped but I think that was because I'd built it up in my head that it was going to be epic before I got there, always an error. Also These Arms Are Snakes kind of blew them off the stage in terms of excitement and energy!
I saw them about 2 years ago with Cave In and March Into The Sea is probably the best song ive seen live, really really good.
their scala show (that was released as a live album/dvd/??) was fucking dull
apparently they were shit hot at the underworlda few years ago
but then everyone's awesome at the underworld.
apart from these arms are snakes
Did anyone read the Pitchfork review of 'City of Echoes'? It's hilarious. I've never seen such a ruthless assassination of a band member before.
High On Fire in December ?!?!?
Please let it be!
PELICAN + HIGH ON FIRE THE CORPORATION SHEFFIELD SUN 16/12/2007
Any other dates specified?
I have found Pelican to be the most explosive, energetic and satisfying live instrumental band I've seen this year.
Their output, ignoring the embarassing lapse that is City of Echoes is pretty much near perfect.
although i suppose that drought off the first album also has some nicely chuggable moments. everything else i've heard by them is a big massive yawnfest. and they were terrible at primavera.
Drought is their best song by a considerable margin
the earlier stuff YES
the mid->late stuff NO
look on Seetickets and ticketweb, there's another date in Glasgow on 14th of December
