Just managed to get a rare interview with Polly Jean Harvey on Friday, anyone got any burning questions?
general... life... correspond with different periods of her work. And if so, what is now.
"are you on ether love? bit passe innit?"
she ever get around to living in that Russian caravan?
is she planning a very large tour for the new album?
a greatest hits?
what's the current live band line up?
What's it like working with John Parish again? How is the process for the new album different to 'Dance Hall at Louse Point'
Favourite new music? If any? Will she ever play ATP?
...if she heard about the man who drowned in a bowl of muesli the other day?
Apparently he got pulled under by a strong current.
and get her guitar out again.
It was the second best PJ Harvey show I've seen (after the Tate Modern one).
in your mouth?"
Why was she nekkid on the first album sleeve, and we've barely had a look at anything else since.
thinks of people like diplo using samples of her work.
and is she a god botherer - cheers!
i read somewhere that she asks nick cave, beefheart and a few others what they think of her work, and she doesn't care what anyone else thinks.
(i.e. the rid of me tour era) and either bask in a glow of nostalgia or curl up and cringe (and is this why she's never reissued the film?)
Will the Eden Project show ever get a release at all?
how she feels about her last album in retrospect
i love all of her records to pieces
but almost all of that record sounds like it was jammed out in a day in the studio to no great effect
I guess the
"songs" kinda worked as upbeat percussive punctuational interludes on the tour of the album and the shepherds bush empire show was AMAZING
but the record is just hlaf arsed to my ears
ask her that, I dare ya
2hlaf" an arse is better than none with polly
Serious question this by the way
of the upsurge in female singer songwriters - tunstall, winehouse, nash, allen - and if their inherent blandness is damaging to how female music is perceived? Or are we looking at it too obliquey because we are men, ignoring the effluence spewed forth by james blunt/morrison, newton faulkner at al never for once questioning how that affects they way male singer songwriters are regarded?
yeah, so a long question.
we moan about it just as much!
but cheers for the different angle.
of the NU-KROON scene?
what would cars be?
(has anyone ever actually used this question?)
If it was ever intentional that she would become a spokesperson for the indie intelligensia?
And if she regards people who call her that as coolly as people who disregard her music, as it's not pop savvy enough?
Basically, if life in the indie ghetto is all it's cracked up to be? Of if she'd rather be pouring frappiccinos over the heads of those 'tate modern' types?
if she'd like to come to my house to play a gig
West London town
We have a piano.
That would be some awesome shit.
for her forthcoming Paris show so expensive approx €70ish. I'm aware that tickets at that particular venue are normally pricey, but this does seem over the top
she was lovely but 20minutes flies by.
