I am in Kilburn anyway tonight - there are still tickets left. Should I go? Convince me
but only if you own earplugs
but only if you are sane
and buy him a drink (non alcoholic), or maybe a meal if you have the money.
im seeing him in leicester 2moro. somehow managed to get 8 people travelling from nottingham, though i reckon 3 of them might drop out on me. still its a good round-up
I only know the Lift To Experience stuff
it'll be intense. but yeh buy his merchandise, he needs the money to pay his rent and for meals and stuff. he has a bandana. buy one.
hes definately one of a dying breed. a true songwriter, honest to a fault.
he charges around £200-£250 to book i reckon, expensive for one person maybe but i'm going to ask him to play for us in nottingham after xmas.
seperated by sweetly plucked acoustic majesty. none of this irregular tuning, irregular time signature bullshit. some 'drummer' jokes in between
probably songs like 'The Clash' or 'Angels And Devils', which are lyrically pretty bleak but have a lot of hidden beauty. maybe if he is ill/tired/in a good mood he will play quieter songs such as 'Gloria Hallejulah'. i don't know, i'm gonna see if i can get a good recording of his set in leicester. how do you do 'soundboard recordings'?
and no lift to experience stuff.
but I just wondered what his solo stuff was like
expect that, as he always opens with it.
but with better sentence structure
Fucking hell, he was awesome. Loved it.
He's the new neil young.
stumbled across him opening for the dirty three in stoke a few years ago, totally knocked me out. awe-inspiring songs, and seems like a great bloke, for all his doomy aura. i'd love to get a chance to see him again someday.
go to the brighton show and i enjoyed seeing him before, but does he have any proper songs yet ? he seems well and truly to have lost his mojo, the youtube songs aren't particularly impressive. i know he's a nice bloke an all but i aint a charity. for the life of me i can't understand why he doesn't play some Lift tunes, i know he holds them in high regard - and so do his fans !
and banished are very 'songy'try and download the live in austin bootleg, its him with a violinist, he was really really good at the luminaire just now am looking forward to listening to 'to hull and back', dont think this dvd works though
can i hear this stuff ?
the austin one I got off someone on here and its on soulseek, if you can't find it I can upload it tomorrow (though not the hull one because he seems to make his living off it)
cool if you could upload it. i've registered with soulseek but having problems locating any of his stuff. as i say, im defo going to the btn gig at the greenhouse but would be nice to know some songs beforehand.
you da man ! many thanks
this sounds great! excellent sound quality for a bootleg. fanks!
aren't they the same songs? Last night someone asked him about studio recordings when buying bootlegs, e said he had just recorded a couple, didn't catch what else he said, and there is still talk if a second lift to experience and a third from what ive read.
I think he should play down with the prophets I think that fits in with his solo stuff.
but i'm gonna be at truck. watching josh t pearson.
However, I was standing right at the front, and I'm several steps further on the road to total deafness.
