any similar pianists you can recommend me?
Keane are all about modern classical and the avant-garde.. Obvious, innit?
most of his work's under the Penguin Cafe Orchestra moniker. Not all of it contains pianos but it's (nearly) all brilliant.
and maybe also bits of Drukqs by Aphex Twin.
Gulag Orkestar sounds quite a bit like Yann Tiersen so unless you are specifically after piano music maybe give that a go.
If you like Philip Glass try In C by Terry Riley, it's repetetive and minimal like Glass but much more interesting due to the overlapping parts which create a different piece each time it's played.
in the afternoon.
it looks like you probably have Beirut already.
Don't know why I didn't think of it a few minutes ago but Eric Satie is probably your best bet.
The new one leaked today.
...went to see Sylvain Chauveau at the weekend, it was lovely :'(
Hauschka - his release this year is gorgeous.
Just hover over the album, and click on download. I'm listening to LO-FI at the minute, and is gorgeous minimal piano stuff from Spain. Recommended.
self-titled hawk and a hacksaw album, and maybe the last bablicon album are kinda built around that sort of piano sound
a lot of eluvium
did the original score for This is England - it's well worth getting the entire OST for that.
I don't have the This is England soundtrack, but I have a lot more of his stuff. Really nice.
look up any of his piano based works
http://alexandrastreliski.bandcamp.com/album/pianoscope very pretty.
has some lovely piano, as does Sylvain Chauveau mentioned above.
Also Deaf Center, this one in particular:
Kind of piano infused with other ingredients but still that same feel
Gregor Samsa, specifically the album Rest. Has some similarities. I think. Tbh I'm losing confidence in this as I'm writing....
