A disastrous idea?
That's what 'Hand of Glory' are doing on Thursday at the Good Ship in Kilburn
But only 'cos I saw a poster at the Good Ship. I thought I might come along. I may well follow this thought with the actual action of coming along.
They've releasing a single by the Outdoor Types soon I believe. The Outdoor Types are ace.
a poster?! I specified NO poster...I certainly don't want people to know that David Ledden (formerly of knuckles) is doing a rare solo set
or that The Outdoor Types will be playing, and have copies of their new single to pimp
or that www.myspace.com/maryepworth will be showing off about the fact she has seven baldy bandmembers
or that Michael J Sheehy and his Hired Mourners will be headlining. I suppose I should mention that he used to be in dream city film club, but frankly, I think his recent stuff pisses all over that band, so I don't think I will.
I'll be there too, being generally drunk, and maybe dj-ing a bit too
It was the poster of listed events in general, which happened to mention your night in passing.
hmm...that's better I suppose. I hope it was straight to the point, and didn't enthuse or anything like that
fantastic! Beat me dark lord!
but it's also a joint birthday party/End Of The Road festival warm up, so special circumstances apply!
check this out
their single isn't even in the shops til monday, but if you happened to come to this gig, you'd be able to buy one way, way ahead of the crowds. Check out the picture! I'd buy one even if it was shit (it's brilliant) because it looks so fucking cool!
of course, this is where you'd find the picture of the actual release. That's not cobbled together on photoshop or anything either. It's a proper seven inch, scanned and shrunk
What kind of message are you sending out there?
so the no promo thing isn't relevant now then...
aah yes...I should add my name. I currently own 194 copies of it, but it's not out yet, so that's to be expected
I wanted to do a blog entry about them...
Isn't that what a lot promoters call promotion, especially those that demand 20+ fans for each band?
aah yes...we only demand their eyes and livers though, which I think it morally acceptable
we never did anything to promote daniel johnston at union chapel but sold out 800 tickets in 3 weeks
I dare say getting people to buy Daniel Johnston tickets is easier than people they won't be familiar with.
Similarly when we put Wreckless Eric on at the Good Ship we probably under-promoted it but it was by far the most successful gig we've done so far in terms of numbers.
I dunno, Sheehy has quite a big fanbase, and he hasn't done any gigs in London for a while, so he might get a crowd.
Same with David Ledden, who is a really fucking brilliant songwriter
