*kills self*
i still like
"I read the writing on the wall.... in fact I'm the guy that wrote it' on Open/Close Your Eyes by Half Japanese. But that's me.
Thou shalt not contradict thyself.
'Thou shalt not take the names of Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Johnny Hartman, Desmond Decker, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix or Syd Barrett in vain.'
'Thou shalt not put musicians and recording artists on ridiculous pedestals no matter how great they are or were.'
Also, thou shalt not write bad lyrics.
i dont think the lyrics are meant literally
but if they are good one! you caught him out!
Hey, Mirri.
9 months ago called. They want their song back.
Anyway, those lyrics are gay.
You seem to be a fan of the Jackson 5, Jimi Hendrix and Queen
all of whom were far more than 9 months ago. I think your point got lost in the post somewhere.
well no,
it was a fad 'song of the moment' type song. so him saying that people were talking about it 9 months ago is valid.
Sure but it also felt kind of elitist and snobby
i.e. "Everyone else heard that song 9 months ago and it's completely unreasobale for you to have only heard and talked about it now" so I thought I'd weigh in with an equally silly counter-argument.
ah yes
thats fair enough
Not really.
It was really the epitome of "fad". It would be like if someone posted the "badger badger mushroom" video and was all like "Hey guys, anyone seen this?! its funny!"
except that Scroobius Pip
is actually a really good poet/musician. It's not a novelty song, it's just been treated as such. He's incredible live, and although I like this song, he has several more that are better.
But this song sounds so snobby
and self righteous, he deserves to be ignored
but it's all so obviously a joke
like the 'just a band' contradictions, and the 'thou shalt not make repetetive generic music' bit.
yeah people seem to take it
as him being completely sincere with the whole thing, whilst theres definately some things he beleives in there i think some is throwaway and said in jest.
O good God
whoever wrote that song should have their head rammed into a pole
.
i think it was The paulEdwardWagemann Big Band
On a related note...........
I've seen Scroobius Pip a few times now and he's great live.
Possibly set of the weekend at Secret G
arden Party.
Damned keyboard.
they are
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good live.
