New album sounds smashing and Big Casino is my new favourite single of the year. In your eye emo doubters.
a a result my Jimmy knowledge is pretty poor. where should i be going?
Bleed American -> Futures -> Clarity (apparently their best) -> Stay on My Side Tonight EP (slightly more adventurous)
both of which are amazing.
is the best. I like the single spangle also! How you got copies of the new jimmy album people? (cries into tea cup) xxx
soulseek I guess...
There might be some links on the JEW message board?
According to Jim they're not even proper demos, since the next versions they did were so different, and those weren't even the finished product.
Just had a look. Not sure how different they'll be. The only song i've heard the 'finished' version of is Big Casino and that sounds pretty much the same, just with a rocket up it. My God I love that song.
'cause that's not on the album...I get the impression that listening to the demos even once will make me want to do it over and over again, so when the final thing's released it won't be much of a surprise
PS Listen to the end of Distraction :D
Is it that one?
In order of greatness
Clarity > Bleed American > Futures > Static Prevails > Singles
Everyone bums Clarity, I guess I just grew out of it. Cautioners is the best thing on Bleed American.
I reckon Chase This Light will fit the hole there between Clarity and Futures
I'd rather wait for the album.
'Big Casino' is awesome though, so huge-sounding.
somewhere. Haven't listened to it yet. I really like Bleed American and Futures, but Static Prevails and Clarity just don't seem to click. :(
= perfect closing song.
I may investigate Clarity again tonight.
Crush, For Me This is Heaven, Goodbye Sky Harbor, songs that probably won't get that much live playing anymore. Guess there's always Lucky Denver Mint and Blister
acoustic gig things they did?
wasn't sure about that idea at all.
I quite like Clarity but I only got in to Jimmy Eat World just when Bleed America/Jimmy Eat World came out so that's still my favourite.
quite looking forward to some new stuff but a tour would be better - they've been great fun every time I've seen them.
It was just a usual set in a smaller tent for them to play material that wouldn't go down as well with a larger audience...nothing acoustic about it, apart from 'Kill' at Reading. They also played Disintegration, which is an 8-minute slow-burner from the EP. And 23.
They've said there'll probably be a UK tour in February...nothing official though
not sure why.
Clarity was the shit tho, Bleed American less so but still good. saw em on the Clarity tour and it was aceness.
But come on
but i agree with some above who find it strange that Clarity is always seen as their masterpiece.
I completely agree with Fallout_At_The_Boy's ordering. I'm gonna listen to Bleed American now.
too, I realised this about halfway through the Lockup set, about the time they played Polaris or Disintegration. They have their over-sappy moments (mainly on Bleed American), but they more than make up for them with the rest of their stuff.
But are they to blame for the emo scene of today? I think so...
gah, what utter rubbish.
Jim's lyrics (especially on the last two albums) have been overly-weedy and sentimental at times. The music is still a step ahead of the bunch. Yeah, I'd agree with the Death Cab and Brand New comparison.
