Looks like being a DiS special...
they're playing at 229 on the 22nd November. I thought this got announced last week though. Is this the DiS special or is it something different?
The new album is proper warsome.
same night as twilight sad play ac30, and asobi seksu play sonic cathedral.
best night / worst night for a long while... depending how you look at it!
so may well come to your night
Someone get me tickets please.
If that date is correct, i'll be in India then.
Can't complain like but it's a bit of a pisser
Two dates in fucking Belgium, and not one for anyone north of fucking big ben.
because they're much bigger in Belgium, and indeed, most of continental Europe. I remember someone telling me bands like Pinback don't like playing the UK because they're not very big here, can't get a decent guarantee and always lose money...whereas on the continent indie-rock is much bigger, promoters treat bands better, they can make decent money that sort of thing.
Strange, I'd never thought of it like that. Think there are a few other bands who feel similarly about the status of indie-rock in the UK. eg. Islands, Xiu Xiu.
what's it like?
Also, how is this a DiS night, as opposed to just a pre-album / media, press Pinback gig in London?
i'd never heard of 229 before this thread
just opposite the station
But it doesn't make me feel any better :[
its not about promoters treating them better really, its because a lot of music promotion on the continent is funded by the government therfore bands get paid well, nice hotels, great riders etc....
mountain goats feel the same... but then some bands, like..vetiver were telling me that they do a lot better over here than they do in america, its swings and roundabouts...
on the other hand...im pretty sure a manchester date will be announced for pinback in the next few days
where i can get tickets for the London show?
...looking forward to this..
