Anyone who thinks This Is The End by The Doors is the best song ever is my friend. So, so good.
it's like the only Doors song i like.
"Father." Yes son? "I want to kill you."
"Mother. I want to RAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"
But how come whenever I read the lyrics in the book or online, it says:
"Mother I want to fuck you" ?
I can't ever make it out. Its just RAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW as you said.
here, but its only called 'The End'. That's not in the usual DiS correction fashion, of 'haha, you don't know what its called, but I do, so ner ner'. Just for future reference.
Anyway. Yes. It is one of the few songs to change my outlook on music. Its epic. Listening to it for the first time was like finding a case full of money.
And on their debut too. If a band of today's standards wrote a song like The End on their debut, there'd be a fucking nationwide heart attack.
So good call. It gets a million out of a million from me.
Both The Velvet Underground and Doors release their debut albums. Both amazing and.. like you said... makes most music made 40 years later sound shit.
They set a standard that hasn't been challenged.
It's an epic, full of pomp and beauty just like loads of Doors stuff.
And what pomp!
Like Queen if they'd done art degrees and acid.
inaccurate and horrible comparison's I've ever heard.
Drugged up blues... stadium hair rock...
I'd hate to have your musical mind.
Every word you say about music is like a shit dropping into my drink.
and you're wrong, particularly when it comes to your silly attempt at a band.
but I think I prefer 'When the Music's Over'.
were bloated, boring old farts who confused pomposity and 6th form poetry with meaning. Almost unlistenable these days - too slow to be good and too dull to be funny.
That said, I still like 'Touch Me' and 'People are strange'.
The Doors were a great rock band with an ass of a lead singer. Since Oliver Stone's pig of a biopic in 1990 its become the norm to slag them off out of a hand. Its really tiresome.
The stuff they did in the 60's is so well recorded its astonishing, yet this fact is almost always overlooked. They piss on the Stones, Beatles and Who mid-60's recordings from a great height.
They only really turned out 2 'Epics', most of their output was short and snappy and highly imaginative. Its fine if you think their shit, but you cant deny their overwhelming influence on art and alternative rock.
And thats a fact! - but i suppose you dont like him/Sex Pistols/PIL either, eh?
on J Rotten that is.
The B-52's were big Doors fans too.
You'll be in tears.
