has been recommended to me...
Where do I start?
Should I start?
Does anyone like him?
I know nothing about him at all.
Have you even heard 'Endtroducing' then?
I can't even spell it. But it's in my big list of albums to listen to, which means it must be ace.
is the obvious answer
I don't think its anywhere near as good as suggested, but its worth listening to
I'll have a crack at it.
I just find his music nice to listen to as opposed to affecting/good though. He is OK.
is the only one ive got. Its alright i guess, though i find him pretty dull. His beats are all the same tempo and just melt into one thing.
Pretty impressive that its completely made up of samples though i guess.
overrated, i wouldn't bother.
didn't take you long to work that out
'Endtroducing' is quite enjoyable. Just doesn't really smack me in the face like some stuff does.
Endtroducing and Private Press are both excellent.
It might have been some kind of Radio One session, it's not a 'proper' album... but it's ace.
Overrated? Only in the same way you could say people bang on about The Beatles too much...
comparing DJ Shadow to The Beatles?
its quite good to have on in the background or something, but there
is maybe one "stunning" moment i can think of on that album.
But how on earth can you engage with it? It has good beats and stuff, but you cant do more than just sit and nod your head to it. Really well done and all, just not very expressive.
I'd rather listen to The Smiths, or Morrissey, or Modest Mouse with Johnny Marr, playing guitar.
I dont like morrissey.Only when he was in the smiths. The recent stuff i heard of his was cack.
Also: im not saying things have to be stupidly emotional to engage with them. I can engage with electronic music, just not this. Hip hop beats are made to be rapped over or an instrument played over them so the syncopation gets all interestingly rythmic and shit. I can't deal with "chill out" things and random vocal samples.
you might be won round
PM me. I'll upload you the live CDs from last year's gig. He was pretty good live. I'd see him again. Probably only once though.
I'll keep that in mind.
THIS ATTITUDE IS KILLING MUSIC
and "by no means a classic" is judging
YOU'RE KILLING STUFF.
