the good life

soapy [Edit] [Delete] 7 replies 03:17, 16 April '05
anyone else realised how good this band really are ?
"side-project" ?
hell this stuff is better than most "real" bands could ever hope to come up with ...and tim kashers got albums worth of it!

the bleeping electronic tainted meloncoly of Black Out is gorgeous, and still retains the ironic, downhearted wit that accompanied his stuff with Cursive...(or imagine brighteyes digital ash album but 3 years older on the same record label)
then theres Album Of The Year, which made it onto my top 5 of last year. surely the soundtrack to a smokey liqour fueled movie populated by characters who've seen better lives...something like that anyway, but less pretenous sounding.

also, i personally think his lyrics bare a resemblance to morrisey without the twattish arrogance and some much needed real feeling and passion...although tim's voice could be technically better i think the songs would suffer for it.

I think they are really really good. I enjoy Tim Kasher's stuff (especially this) a lot more than Bright Eyes. Which a lot of people would think was stupid probably.

I still haven't heard Black Out and saw them touring it with Bright Eyes a while ago and I thought they were crap, but then Lovers Need Lawyers came out and I thought it was genius. I saw them live again and they were spot on. Tim looked so gutted when they closed the bar early. The album came out and it was a lot more...miserable for want of a better word. But I liked it. Great band.

          conor and tim togetther ?
like properly working together not just a little guest spot like cono did on the ugly organ album ?

          sounds interesting . . .

yeah conor on vocals tim on guitar and some vocals. Tim left to concentrate on cursive. I got their 2nd album, the uneventful vacation of ebay. Its alright but conors voice is pretty bad and not in its normal good way.

What does he do on the ugly organ?

I've got 'Lovers Need Lawyers'. I really need to listen to it a bit more.

Only played it once right through, but got distracted by other things.

Might dig it out at the weekend.
