still essential. God I'm 'in touch' aren't I?
are the first two?
First one has the ace 'Ladytron' and '2HB' and 'For Your Pleasure' has the 'Bogus Man'. as highlights that is. Great covers too.Bryan Ferry is the 70s Grinders isn't he?
"Growing potatoes by the scorrrrre"
off the debut also. But how did they get to 'Avalon'?
listened to both of them this morning
For Your Pleasure is my preferred at the moment, though i do find The Bogus Man a little bit unnecessary
I think 'The Bob' is the weakest song
there is a song called 'chance encounter' by roxy music, i'm not sure what album it is on but i have it on roxy music: the early years, it's very haunting and very good and the lyrics are immense.
"I never thought i´d seen you again
Where have you been until now?
Well how are you how have you been
Its a long time since we last met
It seems like yesterday when I first
Saw you in your red dress smile
How could I forget that day
I know that time spent well is so rare"
(this may look lame here but the way he sings it is amazing, especially the first 2 lines)
and on the first album.
stranded is pretty good as well.
i just typed the first line into google and it gave me chance encounter after a few, great song tho!
the first album is amaaaaazing though
I'm not hugely down with the second one.
First one is amazing, then 'here come the warm jets' by Eno
dunno...seems a little less fun than the first can't put my finger on it, but I find it difficult to sit through. Bit more self indulgent maybe
it is a bit more self indulgent, but i reckon the way it places the more freaky and discordant stuff next to the pure pop songs is pretty damn effective, giving each side a lot more emphasis. It works perfectly as a single piece.
And apart from The Bogus Man (which goes on for a bit too long) each song is a flawless piece of songwriting
Sadly it was all downhill from there. :(
it's crazy when people say Roxy went downhill after the first two albums. Stranded, Country Life, Siren and Avalon are all classics.
