He's oddun isnt he? Got a goodun!
*But a goodun
and sent me a text saying "I dont know why some people go to gigs" so I assume there was chatter?
who was complaining about field day without being an irrational nincompoop was claiming that EYOE aren't great promoters.
being there were unfounded?
he's so distant that it's hard to really get into it. Though Rock Bottom Riser was pretty awesome.
And I thought the crowd were pretty good for the most part
but I actually like that about him. That version of "Cold Blooded Old Times" was immense...plus, 90 minutes has got to rank as an epic for a Callahan set.
The only time I was irritated by chatter was when I could hear some buffoons talking over the start of 'River Guard'. The constant stream of people pushing past to get to the loo was annoying though but I guess that's down to the shitty layout of Dingwalls
I can see why other people might think him distant....I loved every minute of it.
I've seen him with that drummer a few times now. The first time I thought he was really heavy handed but you're right, he was great last night
People pushing past was annoying, as was all those pint glasses being kicked around.
Maybe I didn't get close enough to the stage, though i remember coming out of the Scala gig feeling the same thing, ie really impressed with the performance but not all that moved by it.
especially since we got half a dozen songs off "A River...", which I think is becoming one of my all-time favourite albums. And the three-piece setup is just the right mixture of variety and intimacy. I liked the drummer's clangy metal bowls.
The crowd was pretty good during Bill's set, actually - one of the politest I've seen for a while. I assume Roast Mona's sister was referring to the fact that EVERYONE was talking over Alastair Roberts' support set, yelling and laughing as though there was no music on, which is just pretty damn ignorant.
moaning about gig crowds since 2001.
putting apostrophes in the wrong place since 1987.
the proper way to spell the name :)
i really liked appendix out and the solo stuff of his that i've heard.
I liked him more than when I saw him supporting Joanna Newsom at the Barbican - maybe because I wasn't half a mile away from the stage - but conversely the crowd was a lot noisier.
I did deliberate for about ten seconds as to whether I'd got the appropriate spelling of Ala/isd/tair.
its the only proper way to spell it :)
