it was probably the worst place on Earth you could have been. It sounds worse than the Somme or something.
but in theory, it's a great idea, and I really hope they hold more.
i have heard the contrary.
Apparently lots of "the kids" were just sat around, looking, well, new rave as you say.
I don't know/
The crowd at battles seemed pretty "into it".
remember the time you were too young to get in anywhere, but loved music? I am in complete agreement with stuff like this and bands like Fugazi who only play venues that will allow all ages in.
a great idea for kids. If they act like goons , they are kids afterall.
Only because I was covering it for a magazine. Lethal Bizzle was ace. But seriously, fuck off saying it was "worse than the Somme" you big disrespectful idiot.
i was reading that Artrocker special issue about this, and it was all bigging up killcoyne and wetting its pants self righteously about how important it is, and how the kids MUST BE ALLOWED TO SEE MUSIC!!!
all the while ignoring that in a hell of a lot of british cities there's no age limit on gigs. which is why i've been going to them since i was 13.
i would have killed for something like this in birmingham as a teenager.
Instead we got seedy nights at the academy, and meh
Sure as im 21 id have probably got pissed off at tipsy kids and meh at all the generall youngness (i feel so old now) but if i was 18 id have bloody loved it.
And surely loads of kids watching battles and lotp and crystal castles and xerox teens = a million times better than them going see to Limpin Park or the twang yah!!!!!
I'm sure the 15 year old that runs it is propped up by labels or business' but i say yeah. At least it tells kids they can do something other than kicking a bus shelter in!
I missed some fantastic gigs because I wasn't 18.
all london bands are so horrendous?
if you're within the age bracket but I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Thankfully they wouldn't let me in anyway.
But I always get into gigs. I just do my best to not look young and it works.
The bands playing were abismal. It'd be dreadful having the majority of your fans under 19, too.
Obviously, The Beatles were a little girls' band, but they were also everyone else's band.
