Shoegaze
Well, 'nu-gaze'.
http://arts.guardian.co.uk/filmandmusic/story/0,,2135023,00.html
This is in today's Guardian if anyone's interested. Actually, it's still there even if you're not interested.
Nowhere is a very good album, isn't it?
Yes
But I still prefer Going Blank Again because I'm a sucker
^^ This ^^
shoetronica = lols
i downloaded Working For A Nuclear Free City's album a while ago, and I can't work out if I like it. I think it's the bad Mani basslines that put me off..
Can't get that link
to work.
But yeah, Nowhere is great. Going Blank Again good, and Tarantula patchy. In my opinion anyhow.
you have to
highlight it, copy and paste it.
I think you forgot to add
"because Sam's a MOMO!" to the end of that.
Yeah, sorry Dom.
The actual link is:
www.theosamassivegeekywankpole.ne.rd
That one doesn't work either, MOMO!
lolzer
thats where
the guardian steal their ideas from right?
Shoegaze =
Awesome. I love stuff like Ride, MBV, Chapterhouse and Slowdive as well as the late 80s indie bands that paved the way for it, i.e. Mary Chain & House of Love.
Can't knock it.
I'm DJing on a boat party
stag do for one of the Chapterhouse guys tomorrow. 3 of them will be there....I think I'll play 'Falling Down' or 'Pearl'
Please everyone
make it so I never accidentally hear any shoetronica
Maps
or Ulrich Schnauss could possibly be described as shoetronica...?
I prefer
krautgaze
electrogaze
M83
no?
you sure?
can send over loads of stuff.. and it's pretty good! (m83 best I can think of but there's plenty more - haha)
DiS coined 'shoetronica'

It was a joke, mind.
Nowhere is amazing.
On the subject of shoetronica, Nathan Fake is playing the Luminaire in October.
ooh
i'm listening to the stuff on his myspace. i like. if i can afford it, i'll be along.
tis ratherr good
.... my archway friends know him well!
I read that this morning.
Good article I thought. I want to see that documentary where they interview Trent Reznor et al.
I <3 Maps and Nathan Fake
Yet know little of the history. I should probably rectify this
They're both playing
in Nottingham on 25th August. That will be special.
yes
two very good bands there, nova saints OWNED at dot-to-dot.
been a fan of exit calm (and before lyca sleep) for ages

no mention of loop
who i've been listening to today. a gilded eternity is second only to loveless in the shoegaze charts. i can't say that i really care for any of these 'nu-gaze' people, although i did enjoy blonde redhead in nottingham earlier this year, though they aren't exactly 'nu'.
