I don't get how someone could think this was about drugs.
The initial point may not have been clearly expressed, but "Perfect Day" is a song in which heroin is personified - "I'm glad I spent it with you" is, on one level, referring to the drug rather than to another person. In one reading, anyway.
In the same way, there's a sense in which "There She Goes" is talking about heroin, rather than about a person.
