GANG GANG DANCE
Gang Gang Dance are definitely one of our favourite live bands out there! Spawned from the same fertile Brooklyn underground that's given rise to the likes of Animal Collective, Excepter and Black Dice, Gang Gang have similarly developed a dance music that is as experimental as it is fun and immediate. After three incredible albums for The Social Registry - 'God's Money' is surely a classic of our time - they have forged a reputation as one of the most unique live bands operating anywhere today. With cyclic rhythms, synthetic motifs, MIDI guitar and delay drenched ethereal vocals, their seamless sets encompass tribal ambience, Middle Eastern melodies, pysch freakouts and, above all, total rave euphoria! This will be their fourth UTR performance to date and follows their recent DVD art film 'Retina Riddim'. Look out for a new 12" release around this date on XL / Young Turks.
Absurdist composer and electronic musician, Dan Deacon, is based in Baltimore, Maryland. Musically influenced by Devo, Talking Heads, Scratch Orchestra, People Like Us, Raymond Scott and Conlon Nancarrow, Dan's music strives to take modern experimental composition and electronic music out of the circle of the esoteric intellectual gangs and hipster communities, placing it into the more informal "fun time". After 12 tours and 300+ shows in little over 2 years, Dan Deacon has garnered a reputation in the underground as an intense performer and classic showman. His latest album, 'Spiderman of the Rings' (Carpark/ Wildfire Wildfire) is his first album bridging the gap between party performer and genuine composer. A mixture of his live show dance anthems, intricate instrumentals and humorous monologues, the new album establishes Dan Deacon as a new type of entertainer in the contemporary underground.
going to be awesome!
cant wait for Wednesday.
'nikoman' is basically their instant pop song. i think it's released in sept, and is indecently good.
I have a ticket. Huzzah.

GGD - 10.15pm
if they'll be doing another UK tour sometime soon? My friends wanted to leave Jackalope before they started playing, but apparently they "weren't allowed" to play in the end anyway.
and were then told that the stage had met the curfew at 3am even though the festival was meant to run all night. They came down to the crowd to explain the situation and said they had been given no food or drink all day and seemed generally very pissed off.
I'll be there Wednesday.
and was really excited to see them, then got a barrage of phonecalls from friends telling me that "everyone was leaving" :( At least i didn't miss them. Did Fucked Up not play either? It was such a badly organised festival.
Apparently Fucked Up were awesome but security were really overbearing and telling people to stop jumping up & down. I don't think they were used to such an event as I spoke to a couple during the day who said they'd only ever dealt with football matches before. Rubbish.
about the mosh pit during the fall, which was really tame. When/where did fucked up play?
Fucked Up played in that same tent but at about 2am, I was being bored stiff by Uffie at the time.
(only about 15 people) right down the front. The security were getting really concerned about it...
You rule capito! By the way, I saw that you guys are putting out the new Numbers record, does that mean a UK tour is on the way? I hope so!
end of Oct through to mid November!
Check out this show >
available on the door for tonight?
I will marry this band.
sucks i had to leave early
did you leave before my amazing stage debut?
i had two glass bottles. one of them shattered in my hand after a few whacks. guitaristman took me backstage and gave me his socks to stop the bleeding. went home feeling very lightheaded.
still, day off work! and lots of pain when typing!
with your nick cave story
don't leave it there, tell us more?
but basically he digs the tache
I wondered where you disappeared to!
I was just at the bus-stop and a couple of old mates from uni walked past, one of whom I hadn't seen for literally five years. So we went out for a drink or two. Good times.
but goddamn, people of London. If you want to go and chat to your friends and TAKE PHOTOS OF EACH OTHER ON YOUR MOBILES then go to the pub. It's cheaper. And you won't fuck me off.
But yes, great gig.
those guys were cruising for a bruising. From someone big who knows about that kind of stuff.
