Best Of post-FNM Mike Patton
I've pretty much ignored all Mike Patton's post-Faith No More stuff, as it's all been massively disappointing, or so I thought. I've just realised how good Tomahawk are though, so I must be wrong about a lot of his other stuff.
So, what are the best tracks he's done since the split?
From the Tomahawk albums alone, there's...
Rape This Day
Capt. Midnight
Sweet Smell Of Success
Laredo
Ghost Dance
Omaha Dance
and quite a few others. What else?
Pig Latin
DEP
.
Personally I'd go with When Good Dogs Do Bad Things, but yeah that Dillinger ep is the shizz (very good)
Who's that by?
^
.
Its by Dillinger Escape Plan. Its on the Irony Is A Dead Scene ep that he did with them. Its ace.
after some research today
the Dillinger Escape Plan EP is high quality. I like When Good Dogs best, but the whole thing is brilliant. He should have just joined them full time. Why didn't he?
Peeping Tom have a few good tracks, not found anything by Fantomas that's grabbed me, a few tracks on Directors CUt are good but as a whole they're really boring, Lovage is still wank, fair concept but not one good song. What have I missed? Oh yeah, General Patton? Any good? The X-Ecutioners = big-ears from Linkin Park rapping badly over amateur scratching, so I can't see me liking it.
Oh yeah, I just got The Darkness on Xbox360 and his voiceover work on that is the best thing he's done since FNM. Possibly
Peeping Tom takes some work.
But it is fairly great.
on the strength of this
I'd say very great

although I obviously got Tomahawk and Peeping Tom mixed up there...
thats probably my fave ever live video
GAS MASKS! LEERING VOCALS! JOHN STANIER!
Pig Latin!!!

Not a fan of Rape This Day. I liked the first Tomahawk album though. And Mr. Bungle's California album is IMMENSE.
The track he did
with Kid606 "Secrets For Sale" was incredible.
Pink Cigarette
is good, if a bit daft.
mr bungle live
was the greatest thing mike patton has probably ever done faith no more or no faith no more. i mean seeing them live, not a live album. and watching him onstage with rahzel was pretty incredible too.
as for records, well, get with the ipecac ones that have him on that also have nice artwork. at least you have nice artwork. i think one was a calender or something.
Fantomas - Suspended Animation
One more vote
for this.
I think he reached unsurpassed levels of derangement with Suspended Animation.
However, I just heard this fucker: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=32491
Patton's extended vocal solo is utterly perverse. Yes.
This thread has made me realise
I can't find my Mr Bungle cd.
I hate losing stuff and won't sleep till I find it.
um... All of California
and Lovage are fucking cool!
oh
and Directors Cut for christ sake!
rape this day
is fucking ace
