can't wait, they have been recently playing ex-cowboy again, woop!
who else is going? IS IT GOING TO RAIN?
yeah, im going... and yeah its going to rain:
Says no rain after 4pm.
that would be rather sweet.
losing my mogwai virginity.
im more worried that itll be full of cunts with golf umbrellas.
the surround sound thing should be fun tho!
want to go to this.. :(
Just got to go get a golf umbrella first
in the rain it would be fun, but not if theres lots of people with gold umbrellas in front of you :(
They must weigh a tonne! ;)
when you're trying to watch mogwai!
R U Still Into It with Aidan Moffat on the vocals being especially special.
they did May Nothing Byut Happiness Come Through Your Door, which I've not heard live since 1999. Sadface :(
that is one of my favourie Mogwai songs.
I knew I would regret not going.
while the light was fading and then cody at the start of the encore were two of my favourite mogwai moments ever, up there with the epic unveiling of the MYT at the royal albert hall last year
Career-spanning set list, band in a good mood, brilliant sound, special guest appereance, interesting visuals, appreciative crowd, no rain, lovely venue.
Why can't all gigs be like this?
It was amazing
I have seen that manage to get the annoying London crowd to actually shut up. You could hear a pin drop at RAH last year.
Hope it was the same last night, and sort of wish I was there (for what would have been my 20th Mogwai show).
ESPECIALLY as it turned out I was in London anyway!
there was quite a few wankers around us who talked continuously through the set.
I have found that earplugs cut out general talking quite well though.
this problem is way worse in London.
"Rah rah rah Tamsin spilt melon on my futon, rah rah rah"
Get yourselves to the provinces.
nor is the royal albert hall
but if they ever play in rothesay again i'll be straight there.
I really should try that
London - too much money in the wrong hands, gigs are something trendy to do, gak and booze are either too cheap or free in the right circles. Chat quota is higher than ever for me, but I'm also getting old and ranty. But we do get one heck of a gig line-up to choose from.
So this morning, I am pretty deaf
Agreed - but marred for me by the crowd - I asked one chat-zone to shut up and was told it was rude to do so! Any move seemed to conjure up a new numpty. Yep the beautiful quiet bits are for catching up with your mates, obviously, can't wait till the track breaks.
They've become popular enough to attract passive giggers and wristbanded liggers who didn't treat the event with reverence, and that's a shame. But when the band were loud it didn't matter; standing inside a Mogwai tune in surround-sound, I could do that for a living.
Set list more enjoyable than Royal Albert Hall but overall last year was more special for me.
i wanted to go to this so bad... my friend said it was spectacular... raarggghh..
Like Herod destroyed so much it made me have to go and piss. Glasgow Mega Snake was earth shattering. And don't even get me started on Kids Will Be Skeletons. What a way to first see Mogwai!
Brilliant gig. Maybe the best soundsystem i've ever heard - absolutely crystal clear.
Only gripe was the insane queues for beer and people chatting.
I ended up throwing away a spare ticket. I, LITERALLY, could not even give it away. I was trying to get rid of it for about 20 minutes. Really annoying.
i would have had that!
Man - seriously. It really pained me to do it. I tried to sell it at first but nobody wanted it - there were LOADS of people with spares. Not touts, just people with extras.
I left it with the doorman and told him to give to whoever wanted it so hopefully it didn't go to waste.
had the same problem at RAH last year. gig madness.
that the sound was utterly crystal clear, even when they started going into feedback overdrive. When he destrung his guitar on stage, is that something they usually do?
but has been done a few times in my gwai-past.
There was no like herod.
Was standing about bang in the middle of the courtyard, and the sound was incredible, having the rear speakers wasn't the gimmick I thought it could be, it just magnified the magnificence and noisiness.
were the best bit for the surround sound as they seemed to bounce around the courtyard all over the place
I'm not very good on knowing which songs are which. It was the one they played third in, before Hunted....
great gig, beer queues were comical...
loads of tossers, i even saw that bellend who used to write for the daily mirror and has that chat show. matthew wright or something, with some girl tottering around on heels. they left after about 3 mogwai songs hahaha.
Haha - i saw him too.
I think a lot of people just went 'cos it was at Somerset House and was part of that season, which is fair enough.
But it amused me that they were milling about, drinking white wine, chatting, then suddenly the music got insanely loud.
woo-hoo!!!really hope aiden moffats with them
but y'never know.
