Priority White Stripes tickets from o2

babykim [Edit] [Delete] 42 replies 10:31, 11 July '07

Okay, so I've just ordered some of these.

1. They said they didn't have 2 tickets, so I went back and ordered 1, I then ordered another 1 - two lots of booking fee and postage - great.

2. I ordered standing tickets but have a row and seat number, I'm hoping this is just an error.

I want to feel happy but instead I'm just irritated.

  • I think its bullshit

Just because I'm not on O2 means I have to sweat it out and hope I can get a ticket on Friday for one of the only bands in the world I'd be desperate to see, when they go on general sale.

Another mega-corporation takes away a little piece of the music scene, and judging by babykim's post too, not very well taken either....

    cunts!

    • It let me order 2

and gave options for up to 4.

      • It gave me the option of up to 4 as well

but when I went through to the next page it said they didn't have those tickets - it only worked when I ordered 1 at a time. Grrr!

    • Image

Perhaps that's why they've played all these bizarre tiny little gigs recently - the Chelsea pensioners, the Canadian bus - because they want to maintain a certain reputation and image, which is very difficult to do when you're about to announce an arena tour.

      • Yeah,

the White Stripes sat in the board meeting and thought:

"Let's swell our 02 network numbers by offering a bright idea of "priority tickets" so people have to switch phone networks to be assured of getting a ticket"

That was Jack's idea, Meg came up with giving away a free 02 pens on the door, but that idea was dismissed.

        • i'm not blaming the White Stripes for

playing arenas because their popularity is such that that demands it.

02 will put in place how the tickets are sold, WS wouldn't have a say, even if it was at the Windmill.

          poor poor you

          tre_cools_sticks @_vikram | 11 Jul '07, 12:01 | X
          • Actually

artists and management do have a say in these things and it's all discussed when the shows are contracted and terms are agreed with a promoter.

            Poor all of you, ever.

            crablin @tre_cools_sticks | 11 Jul '07, 12:04 | X
            • "do have a say"

but wasn't the conception. I'm sure top of the White Stripes priorities is to get everyone to switch to 02 handsets.....

              tre_cools_sticks @_vikram | 11 Jul '07, 12:07 | X
              • Yes, but nobody ever said that, did they?

                crablin @tre_cools_sticks | 11 Jul '07, 12:08 | X
                • "Blame the White Stripes for agreeing to it"

So, every band that plays at the 02 venue is responsible for what the 02 marketing people came up with, most probably before they even bought the place?!

                  tre_cools_sticks @crablin | 11 Jul '07, 12:10 | X
                  • Well,

                    why does anyone play anywhere?!

                    tre_cools_sticks @_vikram | 11 Jul '07, 12:15 | X
                    • And they've played

pretty much every stadium in London - variety is the spice of life.

I'm not blaming the White Stripes for something that 02 came up with. I understand why they have done it and it's a great business ploy for them, but judging how they've been treating callers (babykim getting 'double charged') is in no way the Stripes fault.

                      • No,

my point was I don't want to held to ransom and feel like I have to change my phone network to gain a "privilege" - no matter which bands play there.

Hence why I'm not blaming the White Stripes.

shows what a swizz it can be.

                        • and

because it's the largest indoor music venue in the country.

                          • and

it sounds, looks and feels fucking great.

they got paid a shit ton to do it.

                            • Could have predicted that they would play the 02

since they headlined the 02 festival. Pisses me off that I have to take second place for tickets but is the venue supposedly designed so that everyone can see? Cause that would be good - Alexandra Palace was so bad I couldn't see a damn thing.

                              Ruby_Tuesday @_vikram | 11 Jul '07, 12:22 | X
                              • don't know about the venue much

but you and Colin make it sound good. Ally Pally was a bit of a pain, view-wise.

I'm just miffed about having to be in the "second" queue as well. I'm not changing my phone network to get a "privledge" - and that isn't anything to do with the bands who play there.

                                • Thing is though

it's not just about cinema tickets being free it's about being able to go at all. they only play a couple of times a year in the UK and it makes it less likely that any other phone customers can see them whatsoever. Bit different really. I understand though, and realise that's the way the cookie crumbles...

                                  • Thanks for the tip

Just ordered me one. Will just hope that there are still tix left on Friday or on Scarlet Mist or something.

could've just mentioned that to me about 20 posts up there *sigh*

                                  • dude,

I get the 'concept' of it.....

All I'm saying is I'm not going to bow down and transfer to 02 because they are using people's passions as a crutch.

Going through, say, "the official fan club" to get priority is ok because you are a fan and you've joined specifically for your passion of a band.

I guess, overall, I'm just sad that that little point ^ isn't the case anymore...

                                  • The priority tickets are available today and tomorrow until 5pm I think

                                    if there's any left.

Just log in to the o2 site and go to the blueroom - the instructions are there. You have to use a code to get the tickets but it doesn't say anything about who can use the tickets, that I noticed.

                                    babykim @Polly_Bee | 11 Jul '07, 12:40 | X
                                  • Get an O2 simcard for free!

They quite often have adverts on this very site advertising them. You don't have to use it. They send you an email notification about priority tickets with all the details you need
