i think its the sort of venue that'll work well for a 'pop concert' but not sure for a white stripes show. Saying that, if anyone can pull it off, it's them.
Seriously? There's only two of them! Isn't it huuuuuuge?
When I saw the WS at a club they were great... and last time was at the Greek Theatre and... notsa great.
It's time the WS added musicians to the touring band if they're gonna play larger venues, IMO.
White Stripes with a touring band would be terrible i think. They wouldn't be able to change it up as much when they play and it'd lose all their spark and spontaneity.
I think they'll pull it off. They seem to do a good job when they headline festivals etc.
when they headlined Reading in 2004 their raw energy was lost to the wide open space (not the mansun song).
wherever, but something of them is definitely lost in bigger venues/at festivals. I'll be seeing them at the o2 arena and it's kind of worrying - alexandra palace was bad enough!
at ally pally one night and maida vale the day after and enjoyed both equally
im going to see prince in august, which would be good in a place like that, i do hope the white stripes can put a good show in there.
The Raconteurs then.
and said it was fucking awful. And she really likes Justin Timberlake, so it must be a hurrendously shit venue.
Me and the missus are seeing Aimee Mann there. Hopefully it's Timberlake being pants that's to blame, not the crapness of the venue. Seems odd for her to be playing an arena-type venue in any event...
it's not the smaller venue inside the O2?
That sounds more likely - and a lot better, too...
click on 'seating chart' on the right hand side - looks quite vast to me.
for Aimee Mann
Can you get more details about exactly why wisdom?
and was a brialliant arena. loads of space and intersting seating.
i have a feeling its totally different now tho.
fucking huge and made me feel giddy
the capacity of it is 25,000
it's pretty souless and feels like you're going through an airport.
The sound is what's to be expected in arena gigs, i.e, shit. And being "in the round" meant anyone standing had a shit view.
I was in the suite though, so that altered my opinon somewhat i imagine. FREE WINE!
Is it like a little room in the middle of the arena or something?!
quite high up
I saw an ad for the arena the other day, talking about it having 20 restaurants in there... is that all open on the dates of big gigs?
but that means bugger all in reality. McDonalds calls itself a restaurant, for example.
In one of the suites, i have to say after being at every single show i hate the place, but i think the sound is better than any arena by far. and for a big venue it feels intimateits very close as the seats are steep..or something...i have to go there now, i wish i didnt just do this
but there was a small indoor beach there on saturday and it was great fun and free! The dome is okay to visit really and our drummer saw timberlake there and she loved it, good sound, can see everything ok, not too cavernous.
then again I bet I get prince on a lazy night where he just stands there and sings Sexy MF for two hours...
