Quite possibly the most overlooked band still producing great albums in the world today.
Funf sounded a bit specialist
I need more of them.
I think 'Internal Wrangler' is one of the best bits of plastic ever to contain zeroes and ones, but everything I've heard from them since has just sounded like a more trying-to-take-itself-seriously-and-being-less-enjoyable-as-a-result version of that.
it's got a lot of the off-the-wall weirdness that I think many people like about Internal Wrangler. Personally I think Internal Wrangler is overrated, and I like both Walking with Thee and Visitations. Winchester Cathedral is a bit poor though.
is that the new one. sounds promising if so. maybe i'll look on eMu-sick.
which is why it's quite weird.
They were quality a ATP this year but I haven't met anyone who saw them! Was it just me and 500 cardboard cut-outs watching when they were on?!
but are you cardboard cut-out?
You'd only be able to have one expression though. I think I'd go for "surprised".
20 mins of their set at ATP. Very tight and driven, it sounded perfect.
It was actually the best time I've seen them - normally they're great on record but a bit rubbish live.
I don't know the singers name but he looked like he was cacking himself at ATP! Proper shakey hand going on there!
is his name
band. I've only ever seen them at festivals (last time was ATP this year) and always found them to be totally engaging live band.
Didn't bother with Winchester Cathedral cos of the gash reviews but I love the other 3 records and play them frequently.
but usually as supports. First saw them with Super Furry Animals and Granddaddy in about 1999 I think.
a poopydraws but i've always thought that they never really improved upon their first record. and didnt really enjoy them at ATP.
Clinic have just come on my iPod shuffle as I started writing this!
disappoint me, anyway
Both good bands.
Pure Morning were fantastic live and on record...I was playing the 'Scum' single last weekend and it still sounds great
saw them in Liverpool in 1994 supporting a band called Kill Laura - what happens to these bands?!?!
Kill Laura were well rubbish
is ace !
supporting radiohead a few years back i nwarrington , i dont remeber much though, perhaps i should
It got reviewed on Pitchfork recently, anyway... I think it's worth it if you like Internal Wrangler. Winchester Cathedral isn't, really, unless you're into completism, but you should probably get the EPs compilation if you don't already have it.
Getting shitter and shitter live, tho... steadfastly refusing to play much from their back catalogue has bored me twice at ATP and once supporting Flaming Lips...
Boy, they used to be SO good, that EPs compilation was rarely outta my CD pile a few years ago...
Yes, they never matched the brilliance of their start, but they're still releasing constantly good records !
of their songs sound pretty much the same.
