Weren't they ace last night?
Even if the sound is shite at Wembley.
think yesterday was that good. It was my first stadium gig, and let's just say I won't be going to one again in a hurry. I was blown away by Metallica at Reading '03, but there was something missing yesterday. The "Hell Yeahs" etc were cringeworthy and almost comical. The main disappointment for me was the sound for Mastodon. All you could hear was the drums (which isn't too bad a thing when Brann Dailor is drumming), but the guitars and bass were just a mess in terms of sound. Nightmare.
from the sound of it, i'm glad i chose Converge over this
and shouted "PLAY SOME MORE SONGS FROM THE BLACK ALBUM!" and then turned to my friend and very loudly said "i hate it when bands ignore their debut albums."
because i didn't find that as funny as the other thing you said
...real good. Mastodon were good, MAchine Head were insane, even getting a figure of eight pit going. HIM was hilarious as we were making our feelings know by doing the conga, YMCA and Hokey Cokey during them. Metallica were amazing. They even did no leaf clover.
they playing much old stuff nowadays?
whiplash, 4 horsemen, seek+destroy
fade to black, creeping death, for whom the bell tolls
battery, master of puppets, disposable heroes, orion
and justice for all, one
enter sandman, sad but true, nothing else matters, the unforgiven
the memory remains
no leaf clover
I think that was all.
indeed ace. My favourite set of the day.
nothing off st anger and no new tracks?
it felt like quite a short set actually. i remember 3 1/2 hour sets in 1991. lightweights!
no st anger stuff is no surprise though really. they only ever played st anger and frantic regularly, probably because the rest of it was shit IMHO.
I'd like to see them live now.
But I don't think that I'd like to buy their music.
Does that make sense?
Just looked at events listings - I didn't see their gig yesterday, I saw them at Live Earth, and I'd like to see more. Maybe.
berst time was in manchester about 10 or so years ago (maybe longer ago than that) they had flaming roadies swinging from the stage set up, and i got to play jason newsteads bass and ruin a song before sum meat head bouncer pushed my arm outta the way, it was immense haha as cheesy as it sounds it was one of best gigs ive been too
Makes sense to me. I'd love to see AC/DC again but I've never had the desire to own one of their records...
