this guys for me :
But just seeing them says it all really.
I get many but these deserve a mention
is the slideshow
....that only really badly proper SHIT bands try and add you on myspace. I've never had an add request from a band doing something inventive or interesting, or just generally good.
Why is this? I only ever get spammed by shit.
brainlove was randomly added my music video, who's ace.
nice_squirrel was randomly added by tigerrr beat, who are ace.
i'm sure i had one once, but i forget who..
a crap band adding them that they devoted their whole music bit to how shite they were. The band wrote back and called them "pig fucking faggots". Great fun.
Anyone that tries to add us saying "hey! we see you like snow patrol, check us out!" gets an irate message back now.
"I checked out you music section and i like a lot of stuff you're into. You should maybe think about checking us out"
Piss off!! You sound like 4th rate Chili Peppers bad-white-funk and i've got Sunn o))) and Wolf Eyes and Boredoms in my music taste bit. DON'T LIE!!
I just ended up blocking band requests.
Why is there such an abundance of naff funk-rock bands anyway?
One of their songs is called 'Your My Revelation'. IT'S YOU'RE!!!!
by their own illiteracy..
makes me die/die laughing.
I think that the amount of myspace friends you have means absolutely nothing, and it's much better if people only add your band if they like you in the first place. I never accept adds from random bands whom I have never heard of. You just end up with badly photoshopped flyers for gigs hundreds of miles away all over your comments bit.
Yes to All
Especially the friend count thing.
I've seen bands with 3000 friends and about 3500 plays. That means every friend they've got has listened just over once to a song. A meaningless, meaningless tool is the friend count.
It tells you nothing when it comes to showing how popular you actually are.
The sad thing is that it's more likely those plays are down to the band looking at their own profile or showing their friends :-s
adding me !
Demon Dog Sperm
no way, haha!
have to say some bands that have added me are ok, and I did get the sense they thought about it for a second...
too awful to even remember or distinguish any from one another. I do click and listen to each one to see if there's potential though- although if myspace is spazzing up by bein slow, sometimes I just judge them by their number of friends (if it's excessively high then generally they add anyone and just want a high 'friend' count), or if the page is designed by a moron. Sometimes reading the comments are useful, as you can see the brain-level of the 'friends'.
As far as I can tell, only three good/greatbands have added me on myspace:
Kinit Her: Freaky cool goblin type singing loveliness.
Choir Of Young Believers: Really cool Danish chap/band.
The Young Republic: who added me as I was a friend of End Of The Road Festival, and whom ended up being very great.
So yes, an awful lot of pap, but worth it for those three above.
...might have been the Jonas Brothers? Basically a Disney band (I think) who sing most of Busted's old songs. Quite a few good bands have added me, can't think of the names off the top of my head.
to listen to Thump ? ( worst name ever ? )
i feel special
I've got a few shitty bands on mine that probably added me because I was doing some music reviewing.
If I delete them, do they get a message to say they've been deleted?
I don't want to hurt their feelings!
mainly through bands I've met/written about in the unsigned column.
I've only deleted a couple for serial spamming...
