Golly gosh - I ain't been this excited about a gig in a long long time.
Anyone else in attendance?!?
though less than excited after seeing him twice in the last few months (and knowing that i'm missing liars and blood brothers)
Tuesday and Wednesday!
tuesday and wednesday too!! woohoo!
and again at T in the Ochaye on Saturday....!!!
BOTH! YAY! etc
Does any one else think that dis competition is a cruel sick joke?
"The 5-piece Bright Eyes live line-up that we saw in March for 2 intimate shows at London’s KoKo and Oxford Brookes Uni (core members Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott, plus drummer Rachel Blumberg, violinist Anton Patzner and guitarist Jake Bellows) has swelled ranks for the current tour dates to a white-suit-wearing 12-piece with a string and woodwind section and additional guest drummer Janet Weiss (ex-Sleater Kinney)"
so that will be interesting to see... plus i for one am glad jake bellows is still playing with them as i think he does a very good job.
are so good, I had forgoten, Im really excited about seeing neva dinova play the windmill
one jug of wine two vessels again last night on lovely 10" - great indeed.
both shows! white suits! string section!
it was meh
but I'm not a huge fan anyway
It was alright for 3 or 4 songs but a bit monotonous
when you have 12 people on stage there's never really going to be much space in the arrangements unless you're Spiritualized or something
but I expect to see glowing reviews from Tuesday from y'all!
Yipee... it's tonight!
Anyone been to a non-smoking gig yet!??
has 2 spare tickets for tonight if anyone fancies
theres probably loads flying around
felt a bit short though.
who's got the setlist?
did he play anything unusual?
i think he played 'i won't ever be happy again'?! (can someone confirm?) i've not heard that live before.
the visuals - i want the projector man job!
what did anyone think to the support? that 'get the fuck away from me' song was about the worst thing ive ever heard, truly awful
Had a big fuck off migraine throughout the whole set which was a downer :(
Support was alright. Big change in musical direction from Test Icicles for Dev. I'm not sure about that 'Get The Fuck Away From Me' song. I was laughing throughout it most probably at the ridiculousness of it. I quite enjoyed them though.
I thought Bright Eyes were on great form but the sound wasn't perfect where I was. Conor was quite chatty which was nice to see and seemed to be enjoying himself.
Was really pleased with the choice of non-Cassadaga songs as some of the ones they played are my favourite Bright Eyes songs (First Day Of My Life, The Calendar Hung Itself, Gold Mine Gutted, At The Bottom Of Everything).
was that girl who looked like emmy the reat emmy the great?
That was Emmy The Great.
She's very little.
for a couple of minutes, I think I was hallucinating, I blame devs(?) over sized hat
if a bit distracting for me! i actually thought lightspeed champion were alright (i hated testicicles), a couple of really good songs.
I wont ever be happy again, the calander hung itself, southern state
not so old songs were, first day of my life (really bad version) gold mine gutted, I believe in symmetry, at the bottom of everyting.
It was nice to meet the people I briefly met, sorry my social skills werent up to much.
Brilliant gig, sound problems dogged the first three tracks with the guitar sounding so tinny it was horrible but once that settled the crowd seemed really responsive with minimal chatter which has plagued a few recent gigs I've seen there. Conor on fine form and as already stated some old gems cropped up, Southern State was special.
I agree, singing lady with Dev was lovely. Without her voice they would have been very average.
Visuals were good, sure beats a blank screen.
Cheers monogoat for free ticket.
his silly hair?
That's the important question.
A few oldies in there as well (about 5 I think)
I quite liked Lightspeed Champion - possibly because I was expecting to hate them, but I thought they were actually pretty good
there was me thinking I had most things Bright Eyes.. anyone know which record/ep this available on ? Not heard it and liked very much. Top show. Liked the integration of Digital Ash material.
it was on some tour EP or something.
i want a volume 2 of noise floor plz now bye.
it was on this
from the oh holy fools split album as an ep called dont be frightened of turning the page and the vinyl version has that as a bonus track
as a really messy version
2. Hot Knives
4. First Day Of My Life
5. Four Winds
6. Make A Plan To Love Me
8. The Calender Hung Itself
9. Soul Singer In A Session Band
11. Lime Tree
12. I Believe In Symmetry
Conor smashes amp and runs off stage for five minutes
12. Gold Mine Gutted
13. Southern State
14. At The Bottom Of Everything
can anyone fill in the blanks then?
10 I think was I wont ever be happy again dunno about 7
because he said it was the opposite of make a plan to love me, when there is nothing left to care about
shit vs good
