Verdict? Worthy of being an exit album?
If so, PM me. :)
Needs more drive, more energy! Too many songs seem content to plod along at a steady pace, I want them to notch it up a few gears. But what do I know, I think Meltdown is their best album.
Ace:- I Started A Fire, You Can't Have It All, title track
EUGH!:- Polaris, Dark And Stormy, Shadows
only one track has got me 'excited' (note: not an erection) and that's the end, title track, which I think is something of a belter.
Rest of the album, incredibly 'meh'. I would've thought going back to a 3 piece would've given them a sense of urgency, alas, no...
this tomorrow. I like 'You can't have it all' and 'I started a fire', and 'Roulette' sounded great when I saw them live.
I'm not too sure about 'Polaris' and the album cover, though. Bit cringeworthy.
i thought they would have turned it all up seen as there is just 3 of them again, i was hoping for sum 1977 distortion action
the new stuff has a cleaner sound.
is so good. It's like a completely different band. Well, Muse.
and I'm liking it. Sure they're not re-inventing the wheel or music for that matter it's just Ash doing what they do well. A good collection of rock/pop songs.
Even Polaris which I felt was a pretty weak single works better in context of the album.
All in all a good solid record.
They'v changed 'Roulette' to 'Ritual', I believe.
'Blacklisted' sounds pretty nice as well.
it is good. But then Ash have a habit of releasing a good album immediately after a bad (or should I say "weaker" album).
'Polaris' sounds ace on the album. Shouldn't have been a single though. It sounded excellent live earlier this year, can't wait to hear it at Kokos on Thursday.
